Iftar 2026 with the Powerpuffs

I would have lived my life as a hermit if it weren’t for my sister, who is a social butterfly. She would organise this Iftar session at her home, and I would gladly bring my little family to enjoy the food. The husband would tag along out of obligation. If he had his way, I’d think he would prefer not to go. He is morphing into my dad’s (unfavourable) traits with time.

Since I anticipated that the Iftar session would take some time to enjoy, I booked a room at Zenith Hotel Putrajaya for the night. I wrote about it in my previous post.

My sister ordered Nasi Arab and Shawarma. I gave her some money for it. She also made mi kolok, tauhu begedil and a lovely dessert. Her son was celebrating his birthday as well, so she got a mango cheesecake from Secret Recipe. I brought my Popia Big Mac. It has become a tradition and act of love on my part as I hand the frozen ones to my sibling and my dad. My brother Danial would ration his portion to like 2 pieces a day so that it wouldn’t run out. To be honest, it takes a great deal of labour of love to do it.

I am thinking of hosting for Raya Haji this year. InsyaAllah.

Ramadhan Staycation at Tan’yaa Hotel

My sister invited the BSP & Melaka clan to join them for Iftar the last 2 weeks. l was looking forward to it because I know that my BIL always cooks the best meals. This time, Mr Husband booked a room at Tan’yaa Hotel in Cyberjaya. It was a one-bedroom suite with a mini living area, office area, kitchen and fridge. Most importantly, there is a microwave that could heat food for Sahur.

We departed from our house at 600pm and stopped by McDonalds near the Ayer Keroh highway. Husband ordered some the new beef foldover for Iftar. Mine has garlic sauce in it – never felt healthier. We performed Jamak prayers once we reached the hotel. The hotel is very near to the DPulze Shopping Centre in Cyberjaya if you’re keen to stretch your legs there and do a bit of 10,000 langkah.

I captured some parts of the room’s interior in this short Youtube video. I think for future room tours, I need to make it longer. Macam tak puas kan tengok..

I brought some instant noodles, oats and bread for our 1st day of Sahur. On the 2nd morning, we ate the leftovers we tapau from the iftar at my sister’s house. The hotel provides in room services for Sahur as well but we thought the price was kinda steep for the amount of food they prepare.

Iftar at my sister’s house was great of course. I cannot wait for Raya!!

Sungke di Saujana

It was a relatively big turnout for our family & extended family Iftar session today.

And as expected, a huge spread on the table;

  • sugar cane drink
  • sarsaparilla drink
  • white rice
  • ikan bawal masak merah
  • pajeri nanas
  • sayur campur
  • kari daging
  • pucuk paku masak tempoyak
  • dates
  • tepung pelita
  • apam balik
  • sago kueh
  • onde2
  • rambutan

Hmm.. thats about it.
