December is a month to party

Life is always fun all year round. Workwise, it’s about closing on the accounts, updating targets and planning for the new year. I am just excited to get the programmes going for 2023. It is also my final year in OUM although I think I’ll graduate by 2024 cause there is no way I am able to fit in all my subjects in just 3 semesters. Especially when your limit is only 12 credits per semester. I mean once I submit my Industrial Training paper, can I request additional subjects to take?

December started with the WAD celebration at the clinic.

Then it was my son and niece’s birthday bask followed by a farewell party for my 4 other colleagues.

I have my exams next week. And then there will be one final course to organize in the last week of December after another party at my sister’s house on the 25th. Can you feel the joy already?

I bought a chocolate cake for my son. As always from my favourite bakery in Melaka, Italy Cake House. The cake was called Devil Temptation. It was nice, not too sweet or bland. I got him a Portugal jersey and a mini-ball (FIFA vibes). For my niece, I got her a few dresses and hair clips. On Saturday, the whole family went to watch Mechamoto. That requires a different post altogether.

Since I had a Zoom meeting, I couldn’t really join my friend’s farewell from the beginning. But I still get to have the food and join in the games. I wish my colleagues huge good luck in their future endeavours. They are really fun people. My contribution to this farewell is as usual the video part. Gosh… I want to be on the decoration committee next time. ha ha ha. But I actually enjoyed putting the video together. Must start planning for next year’s Doctor’s Day, Awareness Days and Farewells. I super love the green theme for this farewell party. There are lots of colours to explore in the coming years.

Friends at work are getting more creative with their videos which is a delight.. Looking forward to more of these..

Park Inn by Radisson Putrajaya

But it’s in Kajang. Yet, far from the crowd.

This hotel looks so majestic and radiant at night. I did not get to take a photo because it was raining and I just wanted to check in as quickly as I can. As usual, I booked my stay through Agoda.Com. I chose the non-smoking Deluxe Room (28m2 room) with 2 double beds at RM339.20 per night including tax and fees. It comes with FREE Breakfast and FREE Wifi. I wished I could stay longer but we had to return to Melaka the following day. We were staying there for the night because we plan to try their hi-tea buffet at the restaurant. It’s a get-together to celebrate Haneem’s birthday and my brother, matin. They are birthday buddies.

The breakfast spread was wonderful. I really loved their dhal. Ym god, it is just dhal but it’s like really good dhal. Vegetable dhal pulak tu. With the roti bom. The 24 hour gym is also very inviting but I did not bring my gear. I did not know that they had a pool or I would have brought my kids swimming suits.

I managed to complete part of my OUM assignment at the hotel too.

At night, we slept like a Tetris game. To fit onto the Kingsize bed. My kids should be grateful that their mother is petite. I can snuggle anywhere between them.

The next day after check out we headed to the RPG Restaurant. At the hotel lobby. A few weeks ago, I’ve already made a reservation for 7 adults and 5 children. Payment details were :

RM52.90nextt x 6 adults = RM317.40 (1 FOC)

RM31.70 nett x 3 kids = RM95.10 ( cause 2 kids were below the payment age)

My sister bought cakes and presents for the meet-up. The hi-tea spread was OK. I really loved their western options, the kambing soup and of course the dessert table. I had lots of rojak buah. Fully recommended.

Le Camar Homestay

Brother D and my niece Ororah share the same birthday month of February. So a celebration is a must and we decided to host a mini party in Melaka at a homestay with a pool. After much searching on Airbnb, I managed to secure a semi-D at a price of RM 757/night. The owner collects the additional RM250 security deposit separately and the transaction is carried out outside AirBnB. I booked the home for 3 days 2 nights.

Unfortunately, Brother D contracted Covid-19, so the whole house members at BSP had to undergo quarantine. That means Dad and Uncle Tin are also not coming. Leaving only Onty L and the fam free from Covid19. Hence, are able to make it to Melaka. I have to say, my sister is very resourceful when it comes to birthday bashes. She found several food vendors in Melaka (where I live!) who could bake desserts, cook nasi arab and make western dishes deliciously. I just did the decorations.

Ororah is turning 1 this year – my borderline prem niece. She has yet to walk but Mak Wa feels that she will be running around soon.

Le Camar is situated at Bukit Katil in a new housing area. It has 4 rooms that are fully air-conditioned. the living room also has an air conditioner. There’s a small kitchen with an induction cooker, rice cooker, pots and pans, cutleries, dinnerware, a fridge and a water dispenser. It would be great if they have a microwave to heat leftover food. It was challenging to reheat our cold pizza for breakfast. The highlight of this homestay was the pool. The depth of the pool was about 4ft. I was on my period so I didn’t jump in but the kids seem to enjoy the water.

the amenities are superb

The place is worth the money. Like I said, having a microwave would be a fantastic touch. It would be good to give a heads up regarding the security deposit in their Airbnb description too. Takdelah terkejut sgt tetiba nak bayar deposit kan.. The playground slide needs to be cleaned. So does the tangki at the back of the house for fear of Aedes breeding site. Putting those points aside – Le Camar is not that bad. Will consider for future staycations.

September Birthday Party

We didn’t really get to do a big celebration (Peringkat Jenjarom) for my birthday in August due to my semester exams. So we went for Hi Tea instead last weekend to lump in both August & September babies celebration.

Checked in Putrajaya Marriot Hotel

I wanted to splurge and pamper myself. So I booked a room at this 5 star hotel with free breakfast for two. It had the usual amenities expected from this high end abode . There’s FREE WIFI, complimentary beverages, good entertainment, luxurious looking toileteries, a bathtub, a Super King bed, a sofa (fit for Ee) and a beautiful view. The receptionist was super helpful too. Said he was from Batu Berendam.

Price per night from it’s own website : RM225/night.

It was a very big room. After the husband and kids retired to bed, I soaked myself in the tub using the Doterra Spa Bodywash. I even put on Spotify in the bathroom for ambience. I enjoyed the view and the late night brew.

The next morning we had breakfast at The Zest, the house restaurant. Ee’s rate was originally RM28 ( children) but being the house guest, he had a 30% discount. Hence, I spent only RM19.80 for his breakfast and it was a buffet! The spread was wonderful and tasty although husband said there was something wrong with the pastries that morning. A bit hard he said.

I wish I had more days off to just enjoy the hotel facilities and cafes. Alas, I have other matters to attend to. We checked out at 11 am the next day and I bought the birthday cake from Marriot’s in house cafe – The Oracle. It was an RM88 Orange Chocolate mousse cake yang tak sedap. So, jangan beli. Ha ha ha.

Hi Tea at Movenpick Hotel

Movenpick sounds very English. Hakikatnya, it is hotel tabung haji yang posh. We had a reservation for the Birthday Hi Tea at Temasya Restaurant. Although the selections were not huge, the readily available options were delicious enough. The Hi-Tea was served buffet style. Husband loved the Beriani. I loved the spaghetti, lamb, satay and well, almost everything.

Except maybe the desserts. Ada lain macam skit rasa jelly dia.

My sister, Nora and youngest brother, Matin enlisted the help of Shuke2 Planner to decorate our table. They also coordinated with the staff of Temasya Restaurant to sing the Happy Birthday song to my dad. What I did not expect was that I received a surprise chocolate bouquet as well! I was so not camera-ready as I did not have any makeup on and that my tudung is so kedut2. Damn those surprises.. although I secretly loved it.

Nora gave me a set of Mary Kay Hand Care set which I absolutely loved. It’s quite a routine just for your hands but I love the fragrance. I also received my backdated order of my MK feet lotion which emanates this minty sensation to it. My brothers gave me a chocolate bouquet and my mom gifted me a set of telekung with purple sejadah. Dad paid for the hi-tea. Ha ha ha.

The celebration does not end there as there are a few social engagements coming up. Lol.

  • November : Tok Teb, Matin & Ninie birthdays
  • December : Ee & Adils’ birthday, my 10th year wedding anniversary, KIV gender reveal party by Aunty L (Nora).

Until then, let’s doa for good health, good life and a world of happiness.

Staycation at Anugerah Homestay

Let’s see, my latest blog update was on the 18th of July. Since then, I have not been blogging much here and on NotaMinci. My mind was occupied by a few things. Mainly, my course assignments, my father in laws stroke, my aunts demise due to Covid-19 (she is one of my favourite aunts), the Basic Life Support course ( I couldn’t really say no, but the timing was honestly shit), buy farewell gift for a superior that I have no idea what kind of person he is (busy sgt ke sampai tak boleh beli sendiri? like hello… aku tak pernah kerja dgn dia.. canne nak personalize gift?) and the prep for The Moss Clan staycation during Eid -Adha.

I am currently breathing a bit. In fact, I am taking leave for 3 days to get my mind sorted out. The exam period for my Psychology degree starts in 11 days.

For The Moss Clan stay cation, I chose a property from Anugerah Homestay Melaka. It was a 5 room villa with a swimming pool. The weekend/public holiday rate was RM890/night. It is located at Durian Tunggal but not far from the highway toll. This stay cation was meant to celebrate Eid and my mom’s 61st birthday.

I chose the place because;

  • it has a swimming pool that the kids would love together with a BBQ pit
  • all bedrooms are air-conditioned
  • they have basic amenities like the fridge, cooking area, cooking and eating utensils. They also provided big garbage bags which were useful to throw our rubbish
  • ample parking space but limited to a max of 4 vehicles. You can park 2 inside the porch and another 2 outside without bothering the neighbours parking space
  • washing machine is provided but we didn’t use them
  • they have sejadah and kiblat direction. alhamdulilah
  • grocery stores nearby. and restaurants. You can even do your evening exercise and walk over to them. Dekat sangat.
  • basic Astro is available. bolehlah tgk 7 Hari Mencintaimu

The downside;

  • it is in a residential area. you have curious neighbours. Although the owner have resurrected a wall near the pool, you still need to be mindful of the neighbours. You do not want to upset them. Children especially, like to peer through the gates and watch you swim in the pool.
  • NO WIFI, NO COWAY, NO AIR CON in the living room but it’s a minor flaw because I could easily access my DIGI from here, we can open the big windows and doors for circulation and part air tu.. we prepared before hand by buying bottles of mineral water to put in the fridge. We can always boil hot water with the kettle they provided. Nama pun homestay, kalau nak sgt2 selesa.. duduk rumah sendirilah kan..
  • Limited towels, so bring your own. Shower gels and dish washing liquid are provided.

To make our stay extra comfortable, I brought;

  • A night lamp. All bedrooms do not have a bedside lamp. So it’s either you sleep in a really pitch black room or open the door a bit.
  • Extra blankets. The tug of war of blankets resume in homestay. So bawak je la.
  • Extension plugs
  • Shampoo

My sister, Aunty L was in charge of our menu. My brothers were in charge of snacks. My parents role is to eat, sleep and enjoy themselves.
