Bodyshop Malaysia – The LYB Club and The Bodyshop Skin Defence Range

Ever since I watched this video, I thought to myself “I should take sunscreen more seriously” eventhough I am indoors most of the time.

I mean, just because you’re not under the blazing sun, it does not mean that the UV rays are not shining among us, right? However, I did not want to resort to wearing those hard core sunscreen brand you apply when you go to the beach and give off that white cast appearance.

I also knew that my makeup products, despite boasting having SPF’s will not give me the protection I need. Hence, when The Body Shop (TBS) started marketing their Skin Defence Range, I was sold.

This range is not new though. Apparently it has been around before in 2016 based on reviews I saw in beauty blogs. Makes sense that I had no idea as I have only recently been obsessed with TBS. Ha ha. of course there were mixed reviews. After all these people who review them are experts or aficionados in the subject of beauty.

So here is a non expert point of view. From the whole range, I only bought the face mist (SPF45++) & the multi protection essence (SPF50++++). Simply because I want the 20% discount if we buy 2 items from the range. I did not want the serum since I still have the Drops of Youth Serum and was not keen to try the facial wash as I am already using a good one from doTERRA. And I don’t moisturize so getting a moisturizer just did not make sense.

I love that the texture is light.

And has that lovely soft floral scent to it. It doesn’t feel sticky to your face hence I was comfortable to wear makeup on top of the essence. This goes to both face mist and essence. I was advised by the saleslady to wear the essence as that layer before you apply makeup and use the mist later during the day as a ‘top-up’. I however did my own regime.

I used 2 squirts of the mist as my base for my makeup in the morning. The coverage was OK I think. And then later in the afternoon, after Zuhr prayers – I’d just wear the essence with my compact powder and a dab of lipgloss. (light makeup)

I hate that it’s a bit pricey for such small quantity though.

Tapi namapun Malaysia, anything Bodyshop is mahal skit. ha ha ha.

The Facial Mist was retailed at RM139 for 60mls. The essence was at RM125 for also 60mls. I really hope that one day TBS could do this ‘recycle your bottle programme‘ which earns you points or something. It’ll give some sort of motivation to finish the product and save the earth at the same time.

With the additional points from this purchase, I was able to renew my Love Your Body (LYB) Membership. This will entitle me to various perks such as free gift wrapping for the whole year, discounts on my birthday, attend exclusive LYB member events (if any) and other promotional discounts. I just need to spend at least RM300 for the year to renew my membership. So far, my favourites from the store are their bodywash gels, the peppermint foot scrub and perfumes. I have yet to try their makeup range – perhaps it is something I will look into this year. =)

Set pantang Spa & Ma . My review.

Local celebrities/ instafamous figures are popping out babies from their uterus like fart. And they seemed to be using almost the same postnatal services and baby products. Lately natalis postnatal treatment and happykiddo are appearing quite frequent on my feed. I had a look at the price of their packages. Ermmm.. maybe not for me. I will have my own mother as my confinement lady and I will buy my own confinement set.

When I had Ee 6 years ago, I did not use any set berpantang. (confinement set) But when I had Ninie, I thought I’d give them a go. I knew I was not going to consume much of pils or jamu, hence I chose Spa & Ma because the selection of items are more for external use as opposed to having to eat them.

Part of my reasons for opting this set are;

  1. Relatively cheap as compared to other postnatal sets. It retails at about RM300 plus but I bought it for RM192 including postage on Shopee.
  2. It smells nice and less herby. I enjoyed using its body scrub and intimate feminine wash. It leaves that fresh and minty feeling down below. Especially bila kita dah bertekang kan from all the heat and blood.
  3. It had a FREE TRADISIONAL BENGKUNG. Previously I bought a long body corset from this very scandalous company which guaranteed me a lifetime warranty but I can’t seem to fit in it anymore this time. And my previous seller is no where contactable now.
  4. The set included a manual to help you navigate through the many items in the package.

Unfortunately I found a few major flaws. The tungku had a very herbal smell to it which the cockroaches love. I had difficulties to maintain the dryness and hygiene aspect of the material. If I coverwrap it, it would not dry. If I keep it in high or secluded places – the roaches can still find it. In the end, I used my moms tungku – pure, original batu sungai.

The Gamat emulsion had no expiry date on its bottle. And the Kelapa Dara Oil too does not have any protective foil or cap to prevent contamination for it to be safe for consumption. Some may argue that it is organic but still biarlah penutup dia mcm yg botol mineral tu pun OK. Ni tak.. so I was not really convinced of its safety.

*product owner would probably say I bought a fake set online*

The Jamu capsules on the other hand was properly sealed, labelled with ingredients and had an expiry date. I took the trouble to go through each of the ingredients, which is a good thing. They have properly cautioned that it is not safe for pregnant women. Additional readings of the ingredients persuaded me not to consume it while I was still lactating. Now that I have stopped breastfeeding and expressing breast milk, I think its time to take care of my health properly. Perhaps slimming down a size or 2 eh? With this jamu? Cause my plantar fasciitis flares up once in a while and it hurts.

Tapi takut plak nak makan. Ha ha ha.

Review : Photobook with Foto-Zzoom

This is a Sticky Post. For new post, please scroll down.

I am a fan of photobooks. Especially after seeing my own wedding photos eternalized in a pretty, thick book back in 2010. The photos won’t be torn, smudged or damaged in any way unless the book itself caught fire. Since then, I have been eye-ing on a few sites which offer these services and lately I came across Foto-Zzoom.

Foto-Zzoom allows customers to create their photobook in less than 15 minutes. I mean who would have time to actually sit down in front of the computer for hours playing editor. Not to mention the pain of having to adjust the settings and size of the pictures especially on photos with poor resolutions. Well, at Foto-Zzoom they will try to solve the headache for you as you order the book in 3 simple steps.

1. Choose the size and design of the book.

2. Key in your personal and payment details

fz2

3. Upload your pictures. Do bear in mind that the ‘ORDER NOW’ button would not light up until you have sufficient number of photos uploaded based on the size of the photobook you chose. Having done that, all you have to do is sit back and relax while the designing team does the editing for you. This will take a few days.

fz3

Once that is done, they will send you a link for the finished product to your email so you may review and discuss amendments (if any) with the team before it gets published.

The photobook was couriered by City-Link and it arrived on my doorstep safe and sound in one beautiful masterpiece. Even Pekanbaru doesn’t look as mundane as how it was during our little family trip few months ago.

A photobook would look great on anybody’s coffee table. If you place your order now, you will get discounts as the site is having a promotion with the upcoming Raya. Have fun!
