Lunch break mini haul

I started with lunch at Vivo. I ordered a salmon dish, a slice of pistachio cake and a soda. I took the time to chew my food because even V Bangtan chews his food more than 40 times. I wanted the digestive system to warm up properly. I was surprised with the huge turnout at Vivo today – patrons were singing ‘Happy Birthday’ from almost every corner of the restaurant. After the satisfactory lunch and leaving Vivo a 5 star on Google Reviews, I started my stroll in the mall. There was a clearance sale at Komai-So’s branch at Aeon today. Komai-so is planning to move a level up because the current space will be rented out to another store. The items were on sale for up to 50% so I got a few birthday party items and cute stationeries. I also bought tumblers for the kids since they were always hinting for one when I got one for myself and my husband.

This was my favourite pick from the clearance sale. A banana milk memo.

I also went into Kaison to look at the cute stuff. I ended up buying a few hair clips for myself and my daughter. It was a great, uninterrupted lunch break at the mall.

Big purchases in September

I keep telling myself that I should jot down a date somewhere when I’d have the tendency to go on a shopping mania. Flicking through my planner and My purchases on Shopee, I realized that there is no biological trend yet. But I do realize that the spending tends to happen on days I feel gloomy. And that shopping spree seems to fill in some void.

The patterns of my spending also come in a range of choices. Last month was more about ‘house care’. The month before I went crazy on beauty products. The months before that the theme was my children, books, stationeries, food gifts etc.

The house-related stuff I bought included;

  • printed rolls of ‘wallpaper’ for the kitchen. I wanted to give the cabinets a makeover. I wanted something brighter for my countertop. I bought a total of 12m and used it all. The workmanship was not as precise as a pro but I was content with the outcome. It took me like 4 to 5 hours to stick that damn thing. My feet hurt.
  • wireless Philips vacuum cleaner that came with a free red rice cooker. I loved that this vacuum cleaner had this LED light at the end. You kind of get obsessed to clean the tiniest speck of dust. I am still using my Roborock for maintenance cleaning of the living room.
  • a massage chair. I traded in my old Ogawa Smart Ace chair for Rm4K and bought a new chair. Had a little trouble getting it in through the door but it was a blessing as we needed to change the locks of the sliding door anyway.
Above : BEFORE, Below : AFTER

I have a few other mini-house projects coming soon. I want to prepare the house for the transition of my children becoming young teenagers soon. That means personal private spaces for the kids and getting rid of baby and toddler stuff. Basically trying to create an environment that is teenage-friendly for them. It would also mean me preparing myself as a parent when they get to that stage.

Some of my planned projects include;

  • Outdoor landscaping – I did enquire about a company regarding that a few months ago but they told me that they are not doing that anymore. Might consider hiring a weekly gardener to sort out the garden for me. The gazebo is also already in shambles due to the monkeys and it is worn out by the weather
  • A new coat of paint for the rooms and outdoor walls
  • the porch needs organizing again. We’ve had cats giving birth to her litter quite a few times at the bottom shelf
  • Storage organization – need to sell off the less popular soft toys with consent from the kids
  • Revamp my study room. Need a soothing colour and re-organize the space

That should keep me busy until the end of next year.

There is always something to repair, service or maintenance as a house owner.

Merdeka shopping spree

Mini head towels & face mask

I thought I should make the trip worthy by ordering both face mask sheets and hair caps. . I have tried the Bioaqua Ice Mask but have yet to try the Vitamin C type. The caps were cute and I got them in 3 colours which are purple, deep pink and pink. My daughter loved her pink one.

Price: RM2.89/ea for caps and RM0.50/ea for masks

Psychology books

I bought two Islamic psychology books from IIUMPRESS. I thought that I’d like to bring them to the conference and get Dr Alizi’s autograph. It did not happen. I did enjoy his topic though. It was very enlightening. The total purchase was RM71.40

GUMASH

For Gumash, I got a different colour this time. This is one of the henna-based hair dyes for women. Going for a dark brown instead of a copper head. This one was priced at RM54.80.

Whizzfizz

This local product exceeded my expectation. It is a bubble bath essence. It produced a lot of bubbles in the tub. The type where it will stay above your boobs for a long time when you’re soaking. I bought it with me during my trip to Kuching the other day. Each bottle costs RM29.35 and I bought all 3 variants.

My bathroom is like a spa.. yeay

Foot bucket spa

I also bought a foot bucket spa for RM209.90 and it was so worth it. I even received a lot of free herbal powder. Basically, you fill up the collapsible bucket with normal temp water, the machine will heat it up to the desired temperature and just put whatever herbal powder of your choice inside. At the bottom of the bucket, there are rollers to massage your tired feet. You can put on the timer as well. I usually do one for about 20 minutes.

This concludes my Shopee haul for Merdeka day !

The Shopee Haul. Part uno.

Stress (disappointment) + Fatigue + IHaveMoneyInMyBankAccount ..

… led me to a shopping spree online last week. And now I have to pay the price to keep myself put at home waiting for my nonsense stuff to arrive. No jalan2 or poya2 merata-rata. Mesti tunggu posmen. Good thing though because it’s so challenging to bring Ninie. I don’t remember feeling very anxious bringing Ee out when he was a baby. In fact, I could easily drive back to Jenjarom with him strapped in the child carseat without an ounce of fear.

Perhaps it’s the world nowadays. Setan behind the mask of innocent looking faces. I wouldn’t even let a stranger makcik to hold NInie. Not even a short cuddle. To me, EVERYONE IS EVIL. EVERYONE WANTS SOMETHING FROM ME. Then there’s reckless drivers on the road. Insane, young, hormonal driven adults in the malls.  Ohgosh.. I’m a paranoid mom. AM I?

Back to my haul. Initially I had NINE parcels to wait on. I had to cancel one as per requested by the seller because she has an emergency at her kampung and she couldn’t deliver the items. my guess is – the item is out of stock. Tapi takpelah.. got refund. but I really wanted that washing machine rack. it would look neat in the kitchen.

Most of my items are planner related stuff.

Then, there’s MISSHA. I had to get my foundation from Shopee because Hermo was selling it at a retail price of RM79. I  have paid for it cheaper…so hell no am I going to fork out that much money. This is my 5th year using MISSHA and did I tell you it’s TIME REVOLUTION ESSENCE is the bomb?  It cost less than SKII and I think it does an equally good job. I glow without makeup. And I look like I had a shower too. Good for early morning school runs. thank god for wearing a hijab as well. Takdelah mcm hantu mak limah sgt..

And of course I need to buy a white elephant item like a cereal dispenser which was not practical in this country. First, it is not airtight. Secondly, ants always finds a way to share your cereals. And now I have to find a place  to hide it from my husband before he comes back from his Sakura Science Programme in Japan. The ants had a buffet with my healthy cereals. Huhu.

I still have 5 more parcels on the way. And that is part Deux.
