It’s a working day for Johor today (Sunday). Despite that – their eating hotspots are still flooded with visitors probably coming from their fans in neighbouring state.

We had the Sate (Chicken/beef on sticks) and Mee Rebus at the famous Maharani cafe. Later Kacang Pool (not G6PD deficiency friendly) at Medan Selera Peserai. The price per bowl is still RM5 but we sense the reduction in quantity. We also managed to ‘tapau’ a few packets of Nasi Briyani Gam for dinner at the same food court.

We went a bit further to Ayer Hitam to get some dry snacks, duvets, huge pillows and soft toys. My MIL bought a lot of pineapples too as they were very sweet.

Our mini culinary excursion ended with a pit stop at Kari Kambing 40 hari as my father in law again, ‘tapau’a few packs of mutton curry to bring back home. We reached home by 3PM, still famished and wishing I bought the Putu Buluh too. Hmph.

Last weekend we ate and ate

Seoul Garden with the family happened last weekend. Mr Husband said it was the longest eating session he has ever sat in. 90 mins of munching food guys. It was not normal in his family.Ha ha. I had to excuse myself early because of my small bladder and abdominal cramps. Plus I wanted to do some window shopping at TYPO. Besides, Mr Husband can mingle longer with the inlaws right? He he.. muka redha..

Then this is dinner today. Leftovers from yesterday and freshly fried omellete with tomyam.

I must have missed the memo or skipped the chapter on “how to be the most wonderful sister in the world’ when I made Danial the Tomyam udang. He is apparently allergic to seafood. Like really? I honestly thought I saw him dunk a prawn in the soup at Seoul Garden the other day. Or maybe I thought I did.

He finished the cauliflower in the tomyam though – I told him I’ll finish up the prawn later.

After dinner, I did some loud reading with my son. He needed to improve on his English pronunciation. He is doing fine so far – English is not our main speaking language at home but its good for school and reading generally. He is currently on book 2B of the Peter & Jane series. I need to make a timetable to chart out his progress and aims. I’m giving it 3 months? Would that be reasonable? We’ll see.

… tapi sekarang…most people seems to think that they know better.

A patient for an elective operation drank before his scheduled time. It was not a large amount but fluids in an elective op is still fluids. I had a choice to just cancel the case or reschedule his time, after a discussion with the operating surgeon of course.

The agreed time to call the patient was 11AM, after other cases are done – to allow enough NBM hours. In a way, I was taking full responsibility of any inevitable things that would happen – if any. After all, as part of the anaesthesia team – we have taken every single measure the best that we could to minimise risk. Advice, preop assessment consultation and all sorts.

Frustratingly, my 11am instructions to call the patient was over ruled. BY SOMEONE WHO THINKS HE/SHE KNOWS BETTER. There are reasons why I called for 11AM. kalau tak faham, jgn buat2 pandai. Kalau patient ada morbidity bila induce awal, yang jawab aku tau!!

I felt like saying,” hah.. dah panggil tuh induce lah sendiri “

But of course – since patients outcome and best interest gains the upper hand – Minci did whats best.

  • kept her mouth shut
  • did not vent on facebook
  • controlled her emotions because innocent personnel should not suffer and we don’t want to give the wrong medications, right?
  • shifted my focus elsewhere

Alhamdulilah, the op went fine.

Meet ‘harle Quin’

It was one of those moments when I felt blessed to be able to witness a rare miracle in life. I had a choice to initially go for another teaching session but I opted to stay because casualty looked busy.

Then she came for a runny nose. She survived her neonatal period. It was an interesting life encounter. And to see her mother being this unwavering pillar of strength kept me in awe. I hope this little ‘Harle Quin’ would get to live a long life. Amin.

Ohayou HoboMinci

img1476793882104.jpg

My Hobominci is a Hobonichi Techo 2017. It took me about a month to read about it. Another week browsing the website and making decisions. And finally just a few minutes to click ‘add to cart’ , fish out my credit card from my purse and wait for the yellow package to arrive.

Most planneraddicts are raving about how functional and wonderful this Japanese planner is. The Japanese are after all widely known as being systematic. We have been adapting their style and systems of work into our daily practice. The 5S stuff remember?

Although bullet journaling is the more popular option in my current planneraddict group – I feel it is time consuming for myself because of my job restrictions. Then I saw a beautiful blogpost explaining the Hobonichi. I loved it instantly. I wanted it more than any Neelofar Hijab.

I chose a blue cover for my A6 HoboMinci. I wanted something I could stuff in my bag. A cute little one.

Plenty of pockets to store stickers, washi and paper clips. Perhaps a note here and there?img1476794341512.jpg

It has a plastic cover on top of the leather cover. A ziplock area is at the back  – I can put photos or quotes or doodles there.

I used this section as a habit tracker. See how in December I have failed in certain habits. Uh-oh. The Monthly section will be put to good use as I skim through my activities for the month. I could get an overview of what I should prepare for the month.

I also loved that now I have a page for my daily planning. I’d put my schedule on the left side of the planner whilst the right side or any space on the page for my quotes or thoughts. Adorned with colourful washi and stickers.

On the start of every month, there’s an empty page. I am going to use it for my highlights of the month. For instance, send a birthday card or read a particular book. Perhaps enroll in a new class or skill workshop. 😛 It can be like a dashpage to list down priorities of the month.

THE CONS : I need to set it up to suit the local scene which means I need to put down the national holidays and school holidays manually. penting tau long weekend. Sometimes nothing particularly interesting happen on that day – so I end up writing random quotes and thoughts – which can be boring. finally it is expensive especially with the weak ringgit. In fact I’ve been thinking, if I really love this system I might consider a faux hobo next year but of course nothing beats the real deal right?! mestilah nak yang ori..Â
