Hobonichi : My thoughts on the first year (2017)

2017 I used an A6 with a blue cover.

I like that it was compact and easy to carry. I used it to plan and journal at the same time. I lost my mojo for quite a while when I suffered from morning sickness and up till now I still find it hard to get into the momentum. Im still planning with my Hobo but doing less of journalling.

Then as I did my flip through – I discovered that my A6 is a jumble of Planning and Journaling on the same one day page. It was a bit ugly, as some of these thoughts are quite private and yet I needed to show other people what I have planned for the week or so.

That’s when I thought that for 2018 – I’m going for the A5 Cousin Avec.

Hopefully it’ll give me space to plan and at the same time privacy to voodoo people at the journaling page. Splitting the year into half would also help to motivate me to pick up the spirit if say I slacked off during the first part of the year.

The covers for the A5 are pretty limited though but I suppose I could always find a substitute on aliexpress.com. China has everything. hehe

I have yet to figure out how I’m going to utilize this planner fully but I believe it’ll be in order once the new year comes.

FujiFilm Instax Share Sp2 photo printer – I choose you!

I am not a professional photographer nor a full time blogger. I don’t even know how to reformat my laptop and when it comes to knowing the tech words people who are into cool gadgets know – I’m afraid you need to explain to me again about RAM, WIRELESS, BLUETOOTH and stuff.

But I am passionate about memory keeping, journalling, kawaii stuff and so on.

It took me a lot of Youtube videos, blog posts and techie articles to go through before finally deciding on getting my hands on the FUJILFILM INSTAX SHARE SP2. Prior to reading the reviews on the SP2 – I had an idea of what I wanted.

  1. Easily available and maintained. Meaning no weird batteries or films or repair centres.
  2. Small and handy. Easy to use.
  3. Print nice photos.

and later of course.. you learn new things along the way. I think a particular video got me sold on the SP2 – about a girl walking in a park, saw a nice flower, took a photo with her SMARTPHONE, got the SP2 out of her handbag, printed out the picture and put it in her scrapbook.

I bought the Instax on SHOPEE for RM699.00 and the retailer threw in 20 pieces of instax film for free. Here is my take so far;

PROS;

  1. Instructions were quite self explanatory in the pamphlet and also the INSTAX app on GOogle PLay Store for a noob like myself. Especially when it comes to setting up the printer and its connections. It seems that I have to turn on my GPS as well to make it work. I’m using a Samsung J7 Prime by the way.
  2. Printing does take only 10 secs. And there’s an indicator on the app to tell us how much films are left in the printer. You shouldn’t open the hatch prematurely as it could ruin the leftover films.
  3. The polaroid films are easily available online. You just need to be wary of those trying to sell nearly expired ones. Check the dates.
  4. You can print photos not only on your device but also the ones on your social media accounts.
  5. The app has made photo printing more exciting as you can add your own text and filters to the photos.
  6. You can share the printer with your friends. As long as they download the app and bring their own films of course.  So it’ll be a great attraction to any planner meetups or social party.

CONS;

  1. Its really expensive. To me. Both the printer and the film. You could get alternatives like Pringo I think, but there weren’t much reviews on that in the local scene #malaysia. I did consider getting the Instax Mini (camera) but since I’m very shy to take out that bulky camera and take a photo – I ditched the idea.
  2. The printer tends to time out really fast, so you might need to switch it on and reconnect it before printing another photo. Unless you’ve organized your photo already.
  3. The pictures are of the size of a mini credit card. So details in the picture can vary.

These are a few points I could think  of right now. I don’t think I would paste these pics in my HoboMinci. But I’ll definitely display them on the kitchen table or something using one of those stand alone albums. They’re very cute.

Yes. I’m pregnant. On an unnofficial basis. Just based on this urine test. Meaning I haven’t done my antenatal booking and have yet to do my dating scan. It’s just too early. I’ll do them next month.

This is my 3rd pregnancy test after a few irregular cycles and late periods. I did not even want to check when I was late for this month but my body was ‘behaving very weirdly’. It’s like I just want to lie down – everyone is annoying sorta thing. Despite my high spirit nature at work – I felt my body working against me. And gosh.. I am experiencing morning sickness. THIS IS SO NEW TO ME. Which seems to peak at about 8AM and last till noon. I feel better for a while and then my head goes all woozy in the evening till night. Oncall would be challenging this trimester.

Honestly I don’t remember feeling like this in my first pregnancy. I did have obsessions to certain food and smell especially towards potatoes and chip back then. Which explains why I ballooned up from 48KG to 62KG at the time. Then I would wash my hands very often with that ‘scrubbing foam soap’ ever so frequent just because I loved the smell.

Once I saw the double line on my urine  test – I immediately regretted my visit to the mamak that morning for I fear having Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). HAHAHA. I bought Obimin from Watsons for my daily supplement. I stocked up on vege (broccoli) mainly. I drank more water until I pee-ed like water too.

Of course Mr Husband got very excited. Alhamdulilah was muttered over and over again. It did got me thinking as to why we are blessed with this now. But like I’ve always put it – there is always a reason for everything.

There must be a reason as to why I was selected to participate in the O&G Life Saving Skills course the other day. Perhaps to meet my future ObsGyn Docs. hehe. Or as to why I get to meet old friends recently. And have new wonderful colleagues in casualty like I have now. I have yet to share the news with them as its still too early. I don’t want them to feel sorry if I get too lembik at work. But yeah.. if I can’t handle it, nak tak nak have to inform lah hohhhh –

But yeah – fingers crossed everything will go well. I haven’t actually been taking Folic Acid 3 months prior to conceiving. I just hope that its not too late to start and provide a nice home for this child. Will do my dating scan soon. InsyaAllah. And document my journey too.

Culinary adventure : Muar –> Batu pahat –> Ayer Hitam

Hikmah tong gas bagi kat tenant – you get to squeeze yourselves in a little car and experience a culinary adventure with your family . We were set to go at 8AM. complete berak siap2.

wp-1485080029128.jpg

It’s a working day for Johor today (Sunday). Despite that – their eating hotspots are still flooded with visitors probably coming from their fans in neighbouring state.

We had the Sate (Chicken/beef on sticks) and Mee Rebus at the famous Maharani cafe. Later Kacang Pool (not G6PD deficiency friendly) at Medan Selera Peserai. The price per bowl is still RM5 but we sense the reduction in quantity. We also managed to ‘tapau’ a few packets of Nasi Briyani Gam for dinner at the same food court.

We went a bit further to Ayer Hitam to get some dry snacks, duvets, huge pillows and soft toys. My MIL bought a lot of pineapples too as they were very sweet.

Our mini culinary excursion ended with a pit stop at Kari Kambing 40 hari as my father in law again, ‘tapau’a few packs of mutton curry to bring back home. We reached home by 3PM, still famished and wishing I bought the Putu Buluh too. Hmph.

Last weekend we ate and ate

Seoul Garden with the family happened last weekend. Mr Husband said it was the longest eating session he has ever sat in. 90 mins of munching food guys. It was not normal in his family.Ha ha. I had to excuse myself early because of my small bladder and abdominal cramps. Plus I wanted to do some window shopping at TYPO. Besides, Mr Husband can mingle longer with the inlaws right? He he.. muka redha..

Then this is dinner today. Leftovers from yesterday and freshly fried omellete with tomyam.

img1484679525218.jpg

I must have missed the memo or skipped the chapter on “how to be the most wonderful sister in the world’ when I made Danial the Tomyam udang. He is apparently allergic to seafood. Like really? I honestly thought I saw him dunk a prawn in the soup at Seoul Garden the other day. Or maybe I thought I did.

He finished the cauliflower in the tomyam though – I told him I’ll finish up the prawn later.

After dinner, I did some loud reading with my son. He needed to improve on his English pronunciation. He is doing fine so far – English is not our main speaking language at home but its good for school and reading generally. He is currently on book 2B of the Peter & Jane series. I need to make a timetable to chart out his progress and aims. I’m giving it 3 months? Would that be reasonable? We’ll see.
