I knew the guy. We have worked together before.
I followed him back to his place. It was like a dormitory where his other friends also lived. His housemates were there but they were all sleeping soundly although the sun is up and the sky is bright. Then he showed me what he did for a living. He was a surveyor for antique items, meaning he’d be at jumble sales, car boot sales, auctions and all sorts. Looking for something valuable that someone with money may want. There was a lot of old-looking stuff kept in one particular room that I don’t really know what it was worth in the first place.
Then I said I have to take my leave and return home. He said OK. I thought we’d just say goodbye at the gate but he walked with me.
We walked past a roundabout. A narrow lane. A space with buildings that had a lot of graffiti. Slowly the world turned into black and white. There were no colours.
As I approached my door, we locked hands and walked towards it. Then he placed a soft, wet kiss on my forehead and let go of my hand.
“I’ll see you later”
Then, he left.
And I woke up.
I have been having dreams two days in a row. The night before was a nightmare. That felt real too. Will write about it in another post.
