My daughter (and husband) had the best intentions. They wanted to keep this pashmina clean. So into the regular washing machine, it went. With all the other, everyday clothes. It also got to sit inside the dryer, tumbling inside for at least 90 minutes. By the time it came out, the fabric was sticking together, and I was flabbergasted. I was like, ” OMG.. how do I fix this nice scarf?!” Can it ever be fixed? Ever?
I was frantic. I could have ignored it for a minute as I was at the same time, writing up my paper for this take-home exam for the subject ‘Motivation and Emotion’. However, being on the anxious side of things with an intense desire to restore it back to normal as soon as possible, I Googled some solutions.
I chose the method of dunking the shawl inside warm water + softener and pulling apart the fabric gently. It took me quite some time to get it sorted but it worked. I did not squeeze the water out or anything and just it drip and air-dry in the bathroom.
The lesson of the day: Not everyone knows how to handle nice things. Nice people. Not everyone understands or appreciates the precious things/people they have or know. Plus precious means different things to different people. If you don’t show it to them, they wouldn’t know.
