My bora glasses

A few months ago my spectacles broke at the handles – the part that goes over your ears to secure it at its spot. I tried holding it together with a few wraps of washi tape. It worked for a bit but it was really uncomfortable on the visual acuity. It wasn’t balanced and I got really frustrated. I was honestly just trying to buy time to go to the optometrist. I wasn’t keen on having to go for an eye test and buy a new pair of glasses. I thought it was tedious.

The inevitable came. The handle was so broken and beyond patching up.

So I went to a local optometrist and was prepared to endure the projected experience. I told the young man that my spectacles broke and I needed a replacement. The young man questioned me back, “Just the frame?”. I was a bit puzzled but I answered with a confident ‘YES’.

He reached down to a cabinet and searched for frames that is similar to the one I had. I had an immediate liking for one particular frame in bora (purple). It was priced at RM60 and just like that, my lense was put inside the frame, ready to use. I did not know that was possible. No need for a new lens, just get a new frame. I was delighted.

I guess sometimes what you think is normal and the usual may not turn out like that every time you experience it. It is easy to be fooled into thinking that the outcome of a certain situation will be the same all the time. There are always extraneous factors weighing into the problem that may or may not contribute to the outcome. Hence, the key message here is to just be confident and go for it. JUST TRY.
