Forever. The Daughters.

Last weekend I had The Visit from my parents. As usual, I’d be hoovering the place 2 hours prior to their grand arrival and getting the clean sheets in the guest bedroom. This time my younger sister tagged along together with her 2 year old son, Adil. I stocked the fridge with yogurt drinks for my dear nephew and loads of snacks for my sister. They love to eat. They’d be looking for food at midnight.

The main agenda for The Visit was actually to the Johor Premium Outlet (JPO). Although in the end, only my parents went. I didn’t think Hazeeq would enjoy being all cramped up in the car for 2 hours. Adil on the other hand was a handful. He’s like an energizer bunny on an automated recharge mode. He never gets worned out. So parents went on their date to JPO. My sister and I just shopped at the nearby Tesco for new clothes and scarves.

It was only later in the evening when the parents finally came back. We were in the middle of enjoying our tea with cekodok pisang when suddenly two big plastic bags fell on our laps. One each. My sister and I, both in our early 30s and late 20s, both earning our own paychecks, both have babies of our own were grinning cheekily at the Fossil shopping bag.

‘ooooooouhhhhh.. gifts!’

Immediately, it was like an edited scene out of Frozen as Princess Anna (my sister) and Queen Elsa (et moi) became super excited with our presents. They were both handbags of the same colour and size. The parents did not want us to fight over the colour of the bag. Not that we will pun , kan? he he..

Both of us were elated with the handbag and stuck to the rule. The rule of just saying a big hearty thank you and never ask why. Cause we know – in our parents eyes, we are forever their daughters.

Thanks Mom. Thanks Dad.

World of Thermos

“Nothing makes the earth seem so spacious as to have friends at a distance; they make the latitudes and longitudes.” – Henry David Thoreau

A colleague of mine will be leaving the grounds of Jasin soon to further her studies for a specialty in Family Medicine. And like any farewell, a gift is a must! I was designated by the group to get her a gift. If it was for me, I am contented with anything cute or a book.  Her close friend started listing the things she might like..

Bodyshop things.. Arianni…

At the same time, I was brainstorming for something more everlasting.

First, I thought of an external hard disc. However, with a budget of less than MYR100.. I doubt could find a hard drive of such value in the current market.

Then, I browsed through the camera shop and my attention got hooked onto one of those digital frames. Hmmm.. Would she like it? How can she use it for further benefit? And of course, price was an issue.

Another phone call came through during the window shopping session from her bestfriend. Again.

Get her a thermos! Those pretty ones like Starbucks! She likes having coffee while seeing her patients..

So a thermos it is. I went to the best place (the only place) I know that has a selection of thermos.. Parkson. And boy it was a lovely an interesting world. They come in so many colours and design. I was even itching to get one. And I of course got to see those Gourmet range which was super awesome and classy.

Thermos: Threadless Tshirt range

I finally settled with a set of thermos flask and food container in green. There was no discount and it cost us about MYR88.80. But it was super cute!!

Buffer Gift

Time to clean the dresser table.

I discarded back-dated and expired makeup. I dabbed on a few lipsticks while Im at it, those that I rarely use everyday at work but loved the colour still. I threw away empty sanitary pad packets, tissue boxes and the part I love most, rearranging my jewelleries/accessories in their respective cases or hangers.

And I came across these. My pearls. Which Mr Husband bought for me at the Philippine Market during our trip to Sabah last year. These are what I call as The Buffer Gift(s).

What are Buffer Gift(s)?
