Simply Siti , a drugstore brand worth your pennies

“Pernah kita jatuh
Mencuba berdiri
Menahan sakit dan menangis
Tapi erti hidup lebih dari itu
Dan kita mencuba melawan”
– Siti Nurhaliza, Seindah Biasa –

I am an avid fan of Siti Nurhaliza, Malaysia’s number one songstress. Im no fanatic, just a normal fan. I dont have all her albums but I do have a few. And my personal achievement as her fan was by going to her concert in Royal Albert Hall, London. Well, I was a student in Manchester at the time so no big deal. Conveniently, the concert was held right after our very own group trip to Italy. A perfect end to a great vacation, but thats another story.

So when Siti Nurhaliza came out with her new line of cosmetics, SIMPLY SITI … I was one of those people who simply had to get something from the range she offered. If possible, the cheapest one without sacrificing quality or customers satisfaction. And I havent been disappointed. Thus, for a few shopping trips to Watson over about a year,( I think), I have bought the ;

  • Beginners kit of her skincare products
  • C Bright Simply 5 cream
  • Simply Lips and Gloss ( soft passion )
  • Simply Feminine Blush ( sweet pink)

My latest purchase was the blusher although I have to admit, up till now, I have no idea how to exactly use it. I thought it’ll be straightforward but perhaps I was opening the wrong thing at the back of the applicator? In the end, I just dabbed the sponge on the powder to apply the blusher. Colour was awesome. I looked … youthful.

Recently, Simply Siti came out with a new product, Dermagic. The packaging looks interesting.. hmmmm..

Vanilla Coklat

I wonder if the Malaysian public realizes that Vanilla Coklat is quite a good series. For several reasons;

  1. The scriptwriter is not Sofia J Rhyland
  2. No overlap in lines/scenarios – meaning you dont have a 2 or 3 characters narrating the same incident over and over again. Honestly, this series caught my eye during the 1st episode as Datuk Ahmad introduced his wife as an animal lover only to be follwed by the scene showing her shrieking as she held a cat. Thats a good one.
  3. Its nice to see a story where Malay students take their studies seriously – doing study groups, making it on the Deans list, able to manage time between marriage and class.
  4. Come on.. admit it. Sometimes you couldnt help smiling alone. The story does affect you in a way.

I look forward to more series like Vanilla Coklat. I also wish that there’d be more films like Songlap. When you have an intense scene of crooks chasing each other [read: the part where Am was hunted by Keong] with background music so.. jolly. That is world class film making instead of the usual bangs and boomss..

Dunia Tersembunyi, TV3

“Everything is on its way to somewhere”

 – George Malley, Phenomenon

Dunia Tersembunyi, currently aired on TV3 (Malaysia) is a documentary that showcases the mysteries and hidden lives of people around the world. It brings forward the way of lives of tribes or communities, old traditions and superstitions/practices which seemed oblivious to the changes happening in our modern world. An eye opener indeed as we explore the richness of the culture and to a certain extent, the peculiar essence of these people.

I have enjoyed the 30 minute series so far because:

  1. Interesting topic which is not recycled in any other TV3’s programme. The last thing I want to see is for a segment to appear both in Nona and also Wanita Hari Ini. For instance, Wanita Keldai.
  2. Presenter not syok sendiri. Prior to this, Majalah Tiga which is also a documentary based programme was on top of my list of things to watch every week. However, eversince it slowly evolved into becoming a blog, or v-log.. the interest waned. It puts me off to see the reporting individual putting on for example a gear and say, ‘saya akan terjun dari bangunan ini sekarang‘.. bla bla bla.. or ‘salah seorang daripada krew kami sakit perut semasa mendaki gunung’. To see the famous presenters get their hands dirty on something is no doubt, very catchy sometimes but to see them do that on every single episode is just too much. Or has their concept changed into something like Steve Irwins programme? Maybe, for the benefit of the doubt.

I hope the concept of this show will remain entertaining and exclusive for this season. I really do. I would like to see what the episodes ‘Dunia Wanita’ and ‘Pasar Cinta’ is all about.
