KHM Strawberry & Jam, BOH Sg Palas, Centrum

We had a list of places we’d like to go : Lavendar farm, Flora Park, Butterfly Park and the market. The market is a good place to buy sweet potatoes, jagung susu or jagung mutiara, strawberries, hybrid guava/apple fruit and boxes of local tea and chocolate. However, the rain kind of inhibited some of the mood, dampens the energy, plus the kids prefer food over anything else. Maybe we will go next time when we are on leave during a warmer season. Still, the visit was worthwhile and we did our best in the soaking weather.

KHM STRAWBERRY & JAM

This was an accidental place of interest. We used to enjoy going to AGRO Farm before but somehow we stumbled upon this place. So, we parked by the side of the road not knowing what to expect. It was a fruitful visit. Turns out people flock here for it’s scones and jam. I loved the citrus tea a lot. The kids enjoyed the strawberries dipped in chocolate sauce.

BOH SUNGAI PALAS

Despite opening a new cafe on the lower ground, there still isn’t enough place for everybody. We kind of missed out on having its selection of cakes with tea.

Perhaps I should try going to the other tea brand place, Cameron Valley. It also has a platform to take pictures of the tea plantation just like Sg Palas. Cameron Valley’s tea has flavours of which strawberry taste best.

Anyway, when we arrived at BOH Tea Centre, we endured the climb up to the place and I bought some specialized tea as a momento. I chose the hibiscus tea (spa-infusions) and two other flavours from the Seri Songket series: Green tea & Earl Grey + Tangerine tea.

CAMERON CENTRUM MALL

This was an impromptu destination. I mean, who would want to go to the mall when you have Cameron Highland tourist spots everywhere? But we did just that. We wanted to find lunch and hey hey hey.. the concourse was so lively with so many people and activities. My husband and I tried pani puri for the first time there. We tasted this bread thing from Rollney’s cause it is too much effort to go to Mahkota Parade for that in Melaka. Hahaha.. mengada.

Lunch was nasi campur and gosh it was amusing to see my daughter sitting beside her father, having the same gestures and such. My daughter merajuk for a while when we were there because she wanted those colourful hats that you could squeeze the ears – so Mr Husband bought it for her.

For dinner, we went to this area where there’s a lot of steamboat, shell outs and grills. Google for ‘adik Aisyah steamboat’ for the prime location. We had our steamboat at a different place than Adik Aisyah cause this AA place is so popular and the queue is so long.

Looking forward to more staycations in 2023. Tq Cameron Highlands 🤗

Heritage Hotel, Cameron Highland

I hate surprises so I made sure to know where our holiday destination is. Mr Husband said we would go to Cameron Highlands during the long Lunar New Year break. The land of tea plantations and strawberries. We were expecting the crowd because CH is always full of tourists but we overlooked the fact that it will be raining a lot there, this time of the year. January, 2023 – raining season.

Hence, it was not only cold but very wet. The high humidity is felt in our rooms and to an extent quite uncomfortable. I under-packed. I should have bought a few more jackets or long sleeves, throws/blankets and a portable dehumidifier.

Mr Husband booked a room at the Heritage Hotel although it went viral in Malaysia some time ago for its supernatural sightings specifically LEVEL 4. It is a 3-star hotel with a nice view, and a strategic location to the nearest bustling, lively area. We were in Room 438. meh. Ours was a Superior Triple Room with 1 Queen Bed + 1 Single Bed & Breakfast/ Free WIFI. Mr Husband said he paid over RM300 for the room. We booked it for 3D2N. It has a shower and bathtub which delighted our daughter very much. The hotel has a very English Tudor design and is situated at Tanah Rata – a place where all the good food is.

We checked in at 3PM at the very red, prosperous lobby. I really love this mini snowing decor. I found it on Shopee. Search for ‘Spot New year’s lights’ – shipped from China. Seller is jkczyy521.my.

The breakfast spread was simple yet fulfilling. I was careful to try and follow my DSSS regime. I do not want to pile on too many kilograms during this trip. The decor at the restaurant was very festive. Then, we had a walk around the hotel and checked out its facilities.

There was a mini library that has lots of Chinese books that I do not know how to read yet, a play area for children and a gymnasium.

At the lower ground, there was a fish pond with a goth-like garden that needs more maintenance to it. There were a few massage chairs available too, a laundry area and basically a lounging space with a fake chimney to just relax. We had a chilling stay but still fun nonetheless. We did not do much in Cameron Highlands due to the heavy rain and I will share it with you in the next post.

Mini Langkawi

At this time of the year, Malaysia is slowly heading towards the endemic phase. This means HCW will be having a headache in the few weeks to come because procedures will change on short notice. This Langkawi trip was planned to coincide with the last week of the school holidays and also after I have submitted my assignments for this semester. I thought it’ll be a good short break until I am at it again for the exams in April.

Langkawi Wildlife Park is probably the only tourist attraction that we enjoy going to from time to time. This is our 3rd visit after the ones in 2018 and 2020. They have removed the virtual thing (thank goodness) and I think the place could do with a better cafe interior. Put some fish or something in the cafe’s main area. Make the place smell of coffee and pastries or whatever that is suitable for the area. With smell, people will come even though they are not hungry.

This is the 2nd part of the Langkawi trip. I think I understand now why Youtubers could churn a lot of videos in a week. It’s because there are lots of footage. They record a lot of content. I find it is easier to edit these videos because I had a lot of clips to put together.

Ramadhan is in April. There are various activities planned for the month. May is Eid and also my husband’s birthday. Maybe another staycation trip during that time.

The concept hotel

We went for a budget trip to Langkawi last weekend. Together with my in-laws. A nice and easy trip where there is no rush to commit to an itinerary. Mr Husband booked 2 rooms at The concept hotel. Ours had 2 king size beds in it. My in-laws had a twin single bedroom. It was spacious enough for us. The hotel also had other plus points

  • Hot shower.
  • A water dispensing machine in the hallway
  • Functioning air conditioner
  • A swimming pool but we didn’t have the energy to check it out
  • Fantastic location – numerous places to eat nearby at walking distance
  • Freebies from the cafe next door

Definitely, a recommended place to stay!

We didn’t visit the cable cars and aquaria this year. But we did try something new this time – Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. That is also a recommended place to try. The dishes are quite pricey, nasib baiklah sedap.

I managed to create a somewhat silent vlog out of this trip, divided into 2 parts. Part 2 will be published on Wednesday on Youtube. Here is Part 1.

Staycation at Imperio Residence Melaka

I needed a short break after submitting my final assignment for psychology – the subject was Introduction to communication. Browsing through agoda – it was a choice between that blue santorini like hotel or Imperio. I decided to go for Imperio because it was walking distance to a lot of places and activities. Of course, knowing us, we’d probably be cooped up in our room enjoying food and Netflix.

This spot makes a very conducive environment to study both during daytime and night time

The studio was listed as Seaview Japanese Themed Studio JJ Home@Imperio. I made a booking for 3D2N and paid a total of RM440 – including taxes and fees. This was my first time booking an Agoda Home. The host was incredibly enthusiastic and accommodating. I received via whatsapp a pdf document explaining how to check in and out of the place. Perhaps the only thing that caught me off guard was the parking space fee of RM3 – Rm5 per entry. I am alright with paying but when I am not prepared with the sudden fee collection – I reacted quite unpleasant to the guy manning the parking area. So maybe that needs to be included in the ‘check in guide’.

Such a welcoming entrance
A studio is great for vacation but not as something that we live in. Don’t think I’d enjoy being in the same space with the kids for a very very long time. Ha ha ha.

The place looked exactly like in the pictures. Imperio Residences is basically an apartment with 2 towers. The vision was that it is built on top of a mall which has yet to open. The common facilities were at the 13th floor – sauna, swimming pool, gym, playground etc. Anyhow, the view was just amazing from our studio unit. Even the view from the bath tub was majestic. Love it! and can I just give a shout out to the scent of the towel and bedsheets! They smell so homey and wonderful, I wonder what detergent or softener the host uses.

There was a King bed with extra futons and pillows for the kids to sprawl on the floor. My daughter loved the bath tub of course. I myself did not have a chance to soak in it. The mini kitchen had all the utensils that we need including a microwave, a fridge and a water dispenser. Mothers love these conveniences. I love that they have an iron with the board too. The Kiblat signage was well placed. There was even a sejadah for muslim travellers. We had our meals from the nearby mamak and restaurants. All were within walking distance. It would have been awesome if Element Mall was opened but only MBO was in operation.

Apart from the water dispenser, the host also stocked up the fridge and pantry. The listed price was affordable and not steep but since we have bought our own supplies – we finished ours first.

Although this was a staycation, I couldn’t completely shut off from my studies. Hence, I managed to catch up with my e-lectures on Cognitive Psychology with the FREE WIFI provided in this studio. Yeay. It could have been a relaxing staycation but we were rushing to our other commitments as well – a photoshoot for Eid and my niece’s akikah. Of all weekends, it had to happen last weekend. Perhaps later, when things get more relaxed.. we will book another stay here. InsyaAllah.
