KPPN’s Hari Keusahawanan – A commercial exercise

My son just completed his exams recently. He said Biology was challenging which prompted me to encourage him to read and ask more questions. Even then, despite the multiple subjects he had to learn and engage in, alhamdulilah, he still did well. I am sure the other students scored well in their studies as well. I have no qualms over their intellectual ability as these kids are like super Scrub Daddy sponges. Given the right guidance, they could learn anything. In fact, they have a tight and comprehensive timetable to follow. I like that the kids are made to go for exercise in the evening. At least now Ee enjoys playing handball and football.

An example of their timetable

I just hope that alongside their academic growth, other aspects of their youth could be consolidated as well. Meaning that their emotional intelligence, athletic agility, religious observance and soft skills are equally groomed to form them as an all-rounded individual.

Recently, KPPN organised Hari Keusahawan with an 80s theme. Apart from the banner, the only thing that is relevant to the 1980s era is probably the parents. Everything else had a Gen Z vibe. Or is it Gen Alpha now? Hahaha. Still, it was a commendable effort. I feel that teamwork is something that the kids need to work on. Well, even adults undergo the same struggle. I’m not sure how well they interact with each other in class but knowing tweens, they tend to be defiant for no reason yet competitive at the same time.

My daughter enjoyed buying her jellyballs at the stalls. The food was appropriately priced but the coupons somehow finished earlier than expected. It’s either insufficient or the students/parents have immense purchasing power.

I look forward to other events they have at school. We parted ways with Ee after spending roughly 90 minutes there. We don’t want to be caught up in traffic heading towards Melaka. On a final note, it was astonishing to meet a young gentleman, who read my blog there as well. I hope he excels in his studies too.

Cafe Chef Wan, The Shore

The price range for most of their meals is between RM20 to RM40. Loved the atmosphere and the service.

The initial plan was to eat Mi Tarik. However, the branch near The Shore was closed. So, the visit to Cafe Chef Wan was an unprecedented move. I do not know whether to laugh or feel blessed by the twist of fate. I don’t think Mr Husband had this cafe in mind for dinner. Interestingly, I did experience a strong gut feeling that I would be having my meal there, only that I had no idea that this cafe wasn’t the first choice.

As usual, I entertained my own thoughts that this would be my birthday dinner celebration. Even though no one actually said that it was. Ha ha.

When I was younger, birthdays meant that we got to eat fast food. This is because I ate home-cooked food most of the time. Nowadays, guiltily, fast food has been incorporated into our daily diet so much so that it’s not special anymore. Hence, to some, celebrations have been brought up a notch by bringing them to fancy restaurants or hotels. Of course, the best birthdays are always the ones when you feel noticed, loved and appreciated.

We ordered a duck pasta dish, spaghetti bolognese, Nyonya Laksa and margarita pizza. It’s good restaurant food although the portions to me, a 4ft10 lady, seem huge. My husband with the better palate rated the spaghetti and pizza as a solid 9 over 10. My daughter scored everything as 100! The pizza could have tasted better if the crust was burnt just a little bit more. I don’t really know how to taste food. I eat for energy and to live for just another day.

I have no idea what the total cost of our meal was. After all, the husband paid for everything. I would say that the prices are ‘atas’ though so be prepared to dine like royalty.

Youvit gummies

I bought Wardah products a few days ago from an online store. I purchased a new concealer, a BB cream and a cake foundation. The existing foundation I have currently from a Korean brand is a shade too light despite it being a code 23. Since Wardah is an Indonesian brand, its shade should reflect our SEA skin tone better.

A Youvit gummy pack was thrown into my parcel as a free gift.

This particular pack has 7 gummies that are individually packed inside. Thus consumption is for 1 week. Searching through Shopee, I believe this size retails at RM 10.79. The product contains Niacinamide. Honestly, I had no idea we could consume Niacinamide. I thought it was something you apply only to the face.

This is a vitamin gummy with natural ingredients that claim to help with treating acne and acne scars from within. It has 5 vitamins and 1 mineral and the ingredients are Aloe Vera, Mulberry Extract, Apple, Pear and Mint. Each serving (a gummy) is 15kcal and it has 2g of sugar. It has edible gelatin from cows and is HALAL.

If I had my eyes closed, I’d probably thought it was just another Haribo gummy. It has the safe, fruity flavours in it. If you have lots of money to spend, buy the gummy. I am just grateful that I was given the opportunity to taste this as a sample.

I’d rather spend my money on a bunch of grapes or a bowl of real fruits for their antioxidant properties.

2024 kids’s sports day

The theme for this year was Flora and Fauna. My daughter said she was participating in sukaneka. The school had a really small field and even if there were plans to expand, there is just not enough land. I really enjoyed the parade. The teachers put a lot of effort into the props and costumes.

My daughter loved the free chocolate milk drink from FarmFresh. MILO used to have a monopoly over these events where their trucks came into school to provide free milo drinks. With the Palestine war still going on, local institutions have started to shift their attention to local produce. FarmFresh is one of them. We also got ice cream that cost RM3/cone. Ice cream always tastes nice in the hot weather.

Now is the Olympics season. That is something to look forward to. I like that now with social media, we also get to see what the Olympians do in their everyday routine. They have been sharing about the Olympic Village, their food, their feelings and stuff. I really like that. Plus, seeing old Olympians compete is just inspiring. We have the senior ladies in table tennis and of course the Turkish ‘hitman’ who has been made a meme recently. These Olympians are so cool.
