Restoran Seri Kenyalang, Bandar Saujana Putra

It takes courage to build something out of scratch. Be it a sandcastle or a business empire. I am happy for both my sister and her husband in their effort of setting up their own restaurant. It may not have the interiors of the sprouting celebrity cafes like Suka Sucre Bistro and all .. well, not yet but like I say, concentrate on the flavour and taste of the cooking. If people love what they eat, they will still come back even though your stall is the size of a chicken coop.

I had a minor role in the establishment of their restaurant – something I do on a pro bono basis. FREE OF CHARGE. I am the Promoting Officer in charge. Camyalah..

Restoran Seri Kenyalang is essentially a place where they serve mainly Malay food with a splash of Thai and Sarawakian cuisine to it. It is open daily from 11AM to 11PM. They also have special weekend menus for the whole family. This family-run business is located in Bandar Saujana Putra – a small township located near the SKVE and PLUS highway enroute to Putrajaya.

The exact address would be NO 57, Jalan SP 8/4, BSP, Jenjarom, Selangor. Behind the police station that is.

I have yet to try everything my brother in law cooks but I am looking forward to try a few dishes such as the Tomyam Kelapa, Ikan Stim Harimau Menangis and of course my favourites – Nasi goreng Dabai and Laksa Sarawak. You can get a full set meal from as low as RM6.00.

Review : Photobook Msia Business Cards

This came through the post. My Mother would be elated.

20150331_211700

These are business cards which I bought from a local website, PhotoBook. The site has 33 customizable card designs to suit individual’s preference. I really hope that the team would produce more templates hence making the selection more fabulous as they already are.

It’s pretty easy to ‘design’ your own business card.

Once I have selected a pattern, I just have to customize it online and voila.. I have my own business card ready to be delivered within  3 – 5 working days.

My mother is a masseuse certified by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM) to perform massage therapy onto postnatal ladies. She underwent a short course with an exam at the end to get that qualification. On top of that, she also sells the traditional bengkung for the ladies, herbal remedies and organic lemongrass oil.

She works on a contract basis at the TCM centre in Putrajaya and occasionally after office hours would attend to private clients at their respective homes. She currently caters to ladies within Putrajaya and Jenjarom area. Please do contact her for more details.

Here’s to a good year ahead.

Pak Putra Tandoori and Naan Restaurant

Adventurous is not really my middle name. Hence this weekend has been fairly interesting.

First, my mother decided to gift me with 2 headscarves. Of styles and material that I would hardly choose for myself. Knowing me, Mr Husband was like, “omg.. I am dating Neelofar today!” HA ha. Very funny. Once I donned my new hijabs, I was secretly loving them. Perhaps my wardrobe needs a revamp after all.

Secondly, Mr Husband brought us to Pak Putra Tandoori and Naan Restaurant which he says serve the best tandoori chicken ever in Malacca. This joint is also loosely translated as The son of Pakistan (pak Putra)

Indeed, it was finger licking good. We had the Tandoori and Plain Naan with watermelon juice. I was impressed by its strong red colour, the succulent spicy taste of chicken and that mint chutney. Well well well… that best tandoori I had in Rusholme, Manchester is now at second place cause we have a new champion in town. Right at our own backyard.

Mr Husband said the price has been marked up tremendously. I could not imagine how it will be with the GST implementation coming soon. But as long as the food is good, Malaysians will for sure buy wan!

Ho Chi Minh : Duna Hotel

If you pay peanuts, you get peanuts.

(And people would still try to grab more of your peanuts)

Duna Hotel was rated on AirAsiaGo.Com website as a 3 star hotel. When we reached there, it was more like a 2 star hotel. I would not recommend this facility to family with small children. The type of people coming in and out of the hotel are just … suspicious. I almost mistook it as a secret brothel.

We arrived at the hotel by 3 pm and to our dismay our booking was not there. This is so against AirAsia’s secure booking policy. But the top management of the hotel insisted that we didn’t have a room booked with them and said that it was full. Mr Husband was obviously not happy but thankfully remained calm because ‘shit happens’

He tried calling the AirAsia centre using the number given but conveniently no one was there to answer the call.

After much delay, the receptionist suddenly recommended we pay for a room which was miraculously empty because the customer who was supposed to have that room canceled their booking. So we paid because they put a knife to our throats we were tired and at a foreign place.

Duna Hotel also operates a tour agency. It seems that we were not the only unfortunate ones with a horrible money-related experience here. A group of young European tourists were ‘ripped off their money’ when their supposed bus trip route was cancelled. Instead of discussing alternative routes with them, the agency took the liberty to book another route which made stops at places they did not want to go at a cost slightly more. Needs no guessing here that they were horrified. I mean who wouldn’t. One of the more vocal women in the group demanded a refund in exchange they will forget about the whole incident and say nothing more about it. But the hotel decided to play games. They were only going to give back a 50% refund despite the problem rooting from their side. After much bickering and soft threats from the group, the management finally gave in. I have to applaud the beautiful angry lady for she was damn serious when she said in her Russian accent, “If you don’t give us our money back, I will sit here all day and tell all the other tourist what you have done to us!!”

It worked.

After the short drama, we were finally ushered to our room. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had horrible next door neighbours though who can’t seem to shut the door properly. Bang sana, bang sini. Then there was the inevitable fireworks and noise after midnight from the public park across the street.

We reconciled our differences with Duna Hotel over free WIFI and breakfast. Although most of the spread was NON-Halal, we were still able to enjoy their simple fried rice with delicious soy sauce, the toast and scrambled eggs and lovely Trung Nguyen coffee. I can’t seem to replicate the same taste coffee at home. Another visit to Ho Chi Minh it seems – at another hotel.

My washi’s are here

It was worth the wait and to think that I have a few more packages to receive – I am a happy woman.

20150306_180947

My work colleagues seem to be more excited than I am when it comes to receiving a package. In fact, anybody’s package. Perhaps the joy is in the Receiving – although it’s not yours. Ha ha.

20150306_181059

This was something I purchased on February 16 2015, off a website called Ali.Express. The little brother of AliBaba. The brainchilds of Jack Ma. The good thing is the items are way way cheap than what most of us can get off the market  – and this is after one includes the shipping fee, if any. As most retailers provide shipping costs for free. The down side is one must be prepared to wait especially if you live in different parts of the world. This package took nearly 3 weeks to arrive. Safe and sound, of course.

A friend told me some wedding dress vendors even buy their dresses from these retailers in bulk and market them as their own. cool huh? or sick?

These washi’s are sold in lots. The store had a 98.7% positive feedback which was very reassuring. They were also very kind to give me a free bookmark. It’s a little cute one but most importantly it’s a FREEBIE. Ha ha.   As of now, my purchases are limited to cute stationaries in fulfilling my hobby to splurge money so called beautify my planners and washi-up the decorative bottles and baskets in the kitchen and bedroom. I still feel a bit insecure to buy big, more costly things through this website since it is based in another country. kelak mun mauk anok urang ya macam susah.. huhu.

This washi obsession will probably be ‘just a phase’ but I intend to have fun with it until it lasts. After all, it’s just a hobby to help me relax and let go. Now where’s my planner …
