Pak Putra Tandoori and Naan Restaurant

Adventurous is not really my middle name. Hence this weekend has been fairly interesting.

First, my mother decided to gift me with 2 headscarves. Of styles and material that I would hardly choose for myself. Knowing me, Mr Husband was like, “omg.. I am dating Neelofar today!” HA ha. Very funny. Once I donned my new hijabs, I was secretly loving them. Perhaps my wardrobe needs a revamp after all.

Secondly, Mr Husband brought us to Pak Putra Tandoori and Naan Restaurant which he says serve the best tandoori chicken ever in Malacca. This joint is also loosely translated as The son of Pakistan (pak Putra)

Indeed, it was finger licking good. We had the Tandoori and Plain Naan with watermelon juice. I was impressed by its strong red colour, the succulent spicy taste of chicken and that mint chutney. Well well well… that best tandoori I had in Rusholme, Manchester is now at second place cause we have a new champion in town. Right at our own backyard.

Mr Husband said the price has been marked up tremendously. I could not imagine how it will be with the GST implementation coming soon. But as long as the food is good, Malaysians will for sure buy wan!

Big Bowl Ice, Batu Berendam

If Inuits run this place, we’d probably see a dozen types of ice shaven dishes. I had no idea that our ice ABC could come in various forms of ice. Indeed, having dessert here is an eye-opening experience. The main ingredient is ice and yet, we could add so much to it to make it special. Things like sauces, fruits and nuts.

Be warned though, they come in various sizes and is very very sweet.

To order is simple. Make yourself comfortable at the many tables. Write down the order on the piece of paper. Submit it to the cashier and make the payments. Then.. just wait for the frozen yummies to arrive.

My Frozen Prince of Bachang

The Disney movie, Frozen took the world by storm this year. Hence, it was only natural for any toddler to enjoy another animation movie regardless whether its dominated by princesses singing with each other.

Hazeeq is 3 and he adores Frozen. Whenever the hit soundtrack “Let it Go’ comes up on TV, he would sing along at the top of his voice siap dengan gaya tangannya sekali. He would mimic the twirls , the tone of the speech.. everything. And because he loved it so much, I though I’d get him a Frozen themed top or pants or better still, a set of pajamas.

To my dismay, most of the stores I frequent to.. although selling Frozen’s merchandise are almost all catered to girls. Pink dresses with tutus, pink handbags.. and even if it comes in a blue color, you’d have only the princesses patched to the front without Olaf. Or Sven at least. Or Prince Hans of the Seven Isles. Anything! As long as my boy doesn’t look too girly in the top.

After much searching, I finally found a little store at Tesco Bazaar selling something suitable for Hazeeq. The salesgirl mentioned that it wasn’t meant for boys in the first place because of the cutting but still it looked ‘neutral’ in the blue and all the main characters stamped in front. I paid MYR 6 for the T-shirt without hesitance.

let it go.. let it go...

Hazeeq as usual was overjoyed and insisted on wearing it that same night in his sleep. Happier still, was this mother who found great joy in this normal everyday life. I still need to find a Mike Wazowski bag.

A lovy dovey La Patisefrance weekend ..

It was a simple Saturday. Although I was on-call the next day, ( oh how I dread weekend calls) I still managed to squeeze some time with my mini family, showering each other with little acts of love to stock up during my absence over the weekend.

The early morning started with breakfast together and basic household chores. One of which I dread the most is mopping the kitchen floor and sorting the laundry. Thank God for washing machines and a husband who loves to hang out the laundry. And Thank god for the wife who loves folding the laundry. NOT!

Lunch was at the in laws house so I was secretly thrilled in not having to crack my head to think of a dish. Later, we just went jalan2 at Old Jusco and Melaka Mall along the AMJ highway. Both shopping complexes were having sales at their respective departmental stores – I was not in the shopaholic mood – so we just went to a comfy little bakery for pastry and ice cream at the Melaka Mall foyer. It was Patisefrance.

The pastry selection was so & so but Hazeeq who loves roti ate everything that has cheese or sausages to it. I had a Danish pastry and Mr Husband ordered gelato. Price was cheap and reasonable.

makan.. makan.. dan makan..

We talked about work – couldn’t help it – we’re both medical professionals. We also talked about our next proposed trip to Thailand. We gossiped about colleagues. We bitched about evil people in general and how more of us should make an effort to be nice to each other. We commented on the many groups of young boys and girls loitering at the mall – without purpose and just playing with their phones.

In the tabloid, there were news of a celebrity couple breaking up and Mr Husband commented out loud of how these people should know what they’re getting into prior to marriage.

“Like I know how you wouldn’t be able to make it to all family functions, that you won’t be home at most nights because you’re on-call and that you don’t cook as well as other people – and yet you make the best spaghetti meatball in the whole wide world”

And I choose to take the last statement as a compliment. Ha ha ha.
