Date & Fate .. an oat snack.

“The oat is the Horatio Alger of cereals, which progressed, if not from rags to riches, at least from weed to health food.”

Waverley Root, ‘Food’ (1980)

I was sold at the mention of eating snacks made from oats. Oat spells Fibre, Healthy and Low Calories. Without a doubt, I fished out MYR 11 from my purse and purchased a box of Date & Fate. All in the spirit of trying to Eat Right and also in helping to boost my staffs side income. Hehe..

The product was appealing and nicely packaged. I don’t really get why it is called likewise. Is it supposed to mean that oat and chocolate are meant to be together? I was excited to see the insides!

Krabi : Food Gallery

We came mainly to try the classic Tomyam Gung and Somtam (Papaya Salad).

Soon, we discovered other simple streetfood varieties which included the famous pancakes, fresh fruits, critters, finger food like prawn tempura et cetera.

Even I had something Western on the last day of the stay. Mr Husband thought it was ridiculous to have Penne Arabiatta in Krabi. I beg to differ. I felt compelled to try Western dishes at places that carters to Western tourist. I wouldnt want my pasta to taste anywhere near to the ones served in Secret Recipe or Pizza Hut.

I shamelessly gained 4 pounds from the culinary adventure itself.

Word of caution, Thai food is spicy and not palatable to my little toddler. So he technically had bread and plain rice with clear soup to go with it. Food pricing overall, to me was reasonable. I did not feel that I had to starve for the rest of the month till payday.

Enjoy the pictures. Go on, drool!!

Homemade Pizza : a la MamaJohn

…no one is born a great cook, one learns by doing
― Julia Child, My Life in France

Thanking god for our daily bread and pizza!!!

I remembered my own mother making one. As kids at that era.. eating pizza at say, Pizza Hut is a luxury. Kids being kids… sometimes we couldn’t help asking our parents to bring us out for one. Money was of course the limiting factor. It was felt that it could be spent well elsewhere .

Mother was not a good cook by nature. She however had the will to provide interesting, nutritious food on the table.

Thus engaging in weekly cooking classes in the neighbourhood. She learnt to make pizza and boy did we have a lot of servings the day after.

We are blessed today to have the internet for searching recipes. Or else I would have to struggle in choosing between attending a class to learn doing a bedside ECHO or a class kneading the pizza dough.

Tutti frutti : You & Me

Love  means to commit yourself without guarantee.
Anne  Campbell

Sometimes you cannot help it by jumping on the Trend/Urban bandwagon as well. The so called healthier option of eating frozen yoghurt as opposed to the good ol ice-cream. Undeniably, it does taste good and psychologically does make you ‘feel healthier’. Yes, Im talking about Tutti Frutti.

I chose RedVelvet. Mr Husband has a swirl of chocolate and vanilla. Then, we ‘decorated’ our yoghurt with fruits etcetera, sat at one of the tables and just did some people-watching.

Love  is being stupid together.

There were people with families, couples on dates and of course boarding school students on their weekly outings.

Best of all, it was our Us Session. No baby. No parents. No Inlaws. Just us.
