The concept hotel

We went for a budget trip to Langkawi last weekend. Together with my in-laws. A nice and easy trip where there is no rush to commit to an itinerary. Mr Husband booked 2 rooms at The concept hotel. Ours had 2 king size beds in it. My in-laws had a twin single bedroom. It was spacious enough for us. The hotel also had other plus points

  • Hot shower.
  • A water dispensing machine in the hallway
  • Functioning air conditioner
  • A swimming pool but we didn’t have the energy to check it out
  • Fantastic location – numerous places to eat nearby at walking distance
  • Freebies from the cafe next door

Definitely, a recommended place to stay!

We didn’t visit the cable cars and aquaria this year. But we did try something new this time – Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. That is also a recommended place to try. The dishes are quite pricey, nasib baiklah sedap.

I managed to create a somewhat silent vlog out of this trip, divided into 2 parts. Part 2 will be published on Wednesday on Youtube. Here is Part 1.

Le Camar Homestay

Brother D and my niece Ororah share the same birthday month of February. So a celebration is a must and we decided to host a mini party in Melaka at a homestay with a pool. After much searching on Airbnb, I managed to secure a semi-D at a price of RM 757/night. The owner collects the additional RM250 security deposit separately and the transaction is carried out outside AirBnB. I booked the home for 3 days 2 nights.

Unfortunately, Brother D contracted Covid-19, so the whole house members at BSP had to undergo quarantine. That means Dad and Uncle Tin are also not coming. Leaving only Onty L and the fam free from Covid19. Hence, are able to make it to Melaka. I have to say, my sister is very resourceful when it comes to birthday bashes. She found several food vendors in Melaka (where I live!) who could bake desserts, cook nasi arab and make western dishes deliciously. I just did the decorations.

Ororah is turning 1 this year – my borderline prem niece. She has yet to walk but Mak Wa feels that she will be running around soon.

Le Camar is situated at Bukit Katil in a new housing area. It has 4 rooms that are fully air-conditioned. the living room also has an air conditioner. There’s a small kitchen with an induction cooker, rice cooker, pots and pans, cutleries, dinnerware, a fridge and a water dispenser. It would be great if they have a microwave to heat leftover food. It was challenging to reheat our cold pizza for breakfast. The highlight of this homestay was the pool. The depth of the pool was about 4ft. I was on my period so I didn’t jump in but the kids seem to enjoy the water.

the amenities are superb

The place is worth the money. Like I said, having a microwave would be a fantastic touch. It would be good to give a heads up regarding the security deposit in their Airbnb description too. Takdelah terkejut sgt tetiba nak bayar deposit kan.. The playground slide needs to be cleaned. So does the tangki at the back of the house for fear of Aedes breeding site. Putting those points aside – Le Camar is not that bad. Will consider for future staycations.

Stay Alive

When Suga produces music – you need to hear the track with earphones. I mean he has those collections of speakers for a reason. Headphones or earphones capture the different elements in the music better. This is why I am super obsessed with them because I want to listen to the tunes at their best. You could hear what you don’t normally hear using just your ear lobes.

When ARMY said that Stay Alive was fantastic, I knew that listening to it in my car via Bluetooth over the normal car speakers won’t cut it. Indeed, the track is purrfect with headphones.

I haven’t read the webtoon as my time is consumed by other activities. Surely it is already out. It is a webtoon, right? Anyway, when I hear this song I imagined an entity (have no conforming gender or species kind of living being) in the wild forest staring longingly at the moonlight. And that moon is gonna be one helluva gigantic moon sitting behind the silhouette of a mountain. That entity is the one who should stay alive. For very very important reasons.

Haiyanah Kitchen

This is the place to get authentic Sarawakian cuisine in Melaka. The name is a rebranding from Kolok Vs Laksa and is situated at Pusat Niaga Gangsa. The other branch is at Taming Sari. There is always a worry if such specific eatery places can deliver an accurate representation of Sarawak’s delicacies. I have to say that the Laksa Sarawak and Nasi Goreng Dabai is on point!.

They could do better with the mi kolok although I have to admit, even if Kuching, it is very difficult to find really really nice mi kolok. What more when you’re in the peninsular. Pricing was acceptable.

Laksa RM8.90

Mi kolok RM7.90

Nasi goreng dabai RM10.90

Teh C layer special RM6

I incorporated some of the mini clips I took while eating into my Youtube video alongside other clips when we went Namjooning. Don’t forget to hit Like, Subscribe and Turn On the notifications for new videos.

BangtanS , the review book

Previously when people mention the word ‘rap songs’, I would imagine young people spitting out many many syllables in one minute in their song. And that they are always angry at something. In a way, always loud and swearing. This is until I listened to Lessang. Specifically Kang Gary’s rap. I took an interest in him because he was my favourite in Running Man. Turns out rap can be soft-spoken? If you know what I mean… it’s like you can rap fast but you don’t have to sound very angry. You can be calm, like Kang Gary and Min Yoongi. *grin*

Many years later, BTS came into my life and I became intrigued by the rap line. I thought it was interesting that each rapper has their own style. It never crossed my mind that they could have different lenggok on how they rap their verse. That there is a technique to rap! At least that is what I heard through the BTS rap subunit – their Cyphers. I couldn’t help loving the non cypher rap-ish song Tear right now. We must also mention Agust D’s Daechwita. There was a comment on Instagram saying that the beats are the same throughout the song and that it was AgustD’s rap and change of tone is what makes the verse seems different. I really need to check it out again although to be honest, I wouldn’t really know the difference.

I bought a book a few months ago entitled BTS : The Review by Youngdae Kim. I am still halfway through the book and for someone who reads mostly science, self help and management books, this is a good change of genre. I highly appreciate the translation work as it allows international fans to understand better Hallyu wave, the rap scene and how BTS is integral to this. I am taking my time to read this book because I am also listening to the tracks awhile appreciating the highlights (mentioned in the book) at the same time. In fact, I have a list on Spotify that I am building up from time to time called Minci’s BTS.

I bought the book from Shopee Malaysia for RM85 and now I am hoping that someone would also sell Suga’s The Merchandise there soon.
