Ramadhan Staycation at Tan’yaa Hotel

My sister invited the BSP & Melaka clan to join them for Iftar the last 2 weeks. l was looking forward to it because I know that my BIL always cooks the best meals. This time, Mr Husband booked a room at Tan’yaa Hotel in Cyberjaya. It was a one-bedroom suite with a mini living area, office area, kitchen and fridge. Most importantly, there is a microwave that could heat food for Sahur.

We departed from our house at 600pm and stopped by McDonalds near the Ayer Keroh highway. Husband ordered some the new beef foldover for Iftar. Mine has garlic sauce in it – never felt healthier. We performed Jamak prayers once we reached the hotel. The hotel is very near to the DPulze Shopping Centre in Cyberjaya if you’re keen to stretch your legs there and do a bit of 10,000 langkah.

I captured some parts of the room’s interior in this short Youtube video. I think for future room tours, I need to make it longer. Macam tak puas kan tengok..

I brought some instant noodles, oats and bread for our 1st day of Sahur. On the 2nd morning, we ate the leftovers we tapau from the iftar at my sister’s house. The hotel provides in room services for Sahur as well but we thought the price was kinda steep for the amount of food they prepare.

Iftar at my sister’s house was great of course. I cannot wait for Raya!!

PICKids Malaysia coming to an end

The nation’s Covid-19 vaccination programme is coming to an end. I am not sure what the numbers are at the moment – I don’t really know how many parents choose to vaccinate their children but I daresay that my state has achieved its target. I’ve had my firstborn vaccinated but my daughter hasn’t got her jab yet as she doesn’t fulfil the vaccination criteria for kids.

Once PICKids end in Mid-May, those who wish to vaccinate their kids will need to get it at a private clinic with a fee as it is no longer funded by the Ministry of Health. My daughter would most likely get a Pfizer or Sinovac later. It doesn’t really matter to me as long as she is protected in one way or another. As for my son, he was OK after the jab. No fever. Just minor arm pain. Kind of had the experience recorded and uploaded on YT.

We are in the ‘transition to endemic’ phase and already we are swamped with the pre-COvid KPIs etc. So, in a way, we really need to get our focus back on preventing diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases. We need to divert our effort better to our antenatal care, our adolescents and whatnot. We need to get back to our TB screening, STDs, methadone clients and dengue risks.

We need to get into the new normal soon.

Mini Langkawi

At this time of the year, Malaysia is slowly heading towards the endemic phase. This means HCW will be having a headache in the few weeks to come because procedures will change on short notice. This Langkawi trip was planned to coincide with the last week of the school holidays and also after I have submitted my assignments for this semester. I thought it’ll be a good short break until I am at it again for the exams in April.

Langkawi Wildlife Park is probably the only tourist attraction that we enjoy going to from time to time. This is our 3rd visit after the ones in 2018 and 2020. They have removed the virtual thing (thank goodness) and I think the place could do with a better cafe interior. Put some fish or something in the cafe’s main area. Make the place smell of coffee and pastries or whatever that is suitable for the area. With smell, people will come even though they are not hungry.

This is the 2nd part of the Langkawi trip. I think I understand now why Youtubers could churn a lot of videos in a week. It’s because there are lots of footage. They record a lot of content. I find it is easier to edit these videos because I had a lot of clips to put together.

Ramadhan is in April. There are various activities planned for the month. May is Eid and also my husband’s birthday. Maybe another staycation trip during that time.

The concept hotel

We went for a budget trip to Langkawi last weekend. Together with my in-laws. A nice and easy trip where there is no rush to commit to an itinerary. Mr Husband booked 2 rooms at The concept hotel. Ours had 2 king size beds in it. My in-laws had a twin single bedroom. It was spacious enough for us. The hotel also had other plus points

  • Hot shower.
  • A water dispensing machine in the hallway
  • Functioning air conditioner
  • A swimming pool but we didn’t have the energy to check it out
  • Fantastic location – numerous places to eat nearby at walking distance
  • Freebies from the cafe next door

Definitely, a recommended place to stay!

We didn’t visit the cable cars and aquaria this year. But we did try something new this time – Nasi Dagang Pak Malau. That is also a recommended place to try. The dishes are quite pricey, nasib baiklah sedap.

I managed to create a somewhat silent vlog out of this trip, divided into 2 parts. Part 2 will be published on Wednesday on Youtube. Here is Part 1.

Haiyanah Kitchen

This is the place to get authentic Sarawakian cuisine in Melaka. The name is a rebranding from Kolok Vs Laksa and is situated at Pusat Niaga Gangsa. The other branch is at Taming Sari. There is always a worry if such specific eatery places can deliver an accurate representation of Sarawak’s delicacies. I have to say that the Laksa Sarawak and Nasi Goreng Dabai is on point!.

They could do better with the mi kolok although I have to admit, even if Kuching, it is very difficult to find really really nice mi kolok. What more when you’re in the peninsular. Pricing was acceptable.

Laksa RM8.90

Mi kolok RM7.90

Nasi goreng dabai RM10.90

Teh C layer special RM6

I incorporated some of the mini clips I took while eating into my Youtube video alongside other clips when we went Namjooning. Don’t forget to hit Like, Subscribe and Turn On the notifications for new videos.
