Celebrating September babies at AHA

It was my first time trying AHA. It is a restaurant that serves steamboat and chicken covered in cheese. My sister booked a table there in conjunction with the birthday celebration for September babies. This time round, Brother D could not join us because he was working.

We ordered the served-buffet meal which was priced as below.

I was not a fan of the sauce but it wasn’t that horrible to begin with. Overall, it was a splendid meal and we surprised our dad with coconut ice cream for his birthday.

I managed to record a few clips for my personal vlog. Something to look back on in the future. Insya-Allah.

Youtube algorithm

I once saw a video by Ali Abdal mentioning that he had to make 77 videos first before his channel gained momentum with currently 4.67M subscribers. Nowadays I see that a lot of Youtubers do not need to make 77 videos but already have more than 10K views per video with at least a few K subscribers.

It makes sense considering the amount of engagement they are doing on their respective social media platforms. Consistency is The Key but Engagement opens the Door. The rest speaks for itself.

Looking into the type of videos that Malaysian Youtubers (the famous ones) like to make – they tend to give value in terms of knowledge or pure entertainment. Meaning, the Youtuber may choose to make a sick prank video or such but would still have people watching it out of pleasure. It doesn’t have to impart knowledge or wisdom – it just needs to entertain. Then there are food-related contents which I know are not my turf. There’s quite a handful of talking videos as well where the owner would review a car, a place, narrate a story or anything. That is interesting. The faceless videos are also making it around in the local scene. There are just so many niches one could choose to do.

I love silent vlogs but the ones lurking around are made by uni students – I find it quite difficult to relate. I am still exploring by clicking on these accounts hoping to find ones that I like. Perhaps something from a Malaysian homemaker. Although it is understandable and challenging to wear the hijab at all times.

In Episode 9 there is not much going on. I have deleted quite a few videos that I feel had no continuity to the clips I had at the time. But like all wise Youtubers say, keep shooting. Keep creating with the tools that you have.

The Bunga rampai episode

It’s July and I have only uploaded 8 Youtube videos this year. Probably because the focus is more towards my psychology studies. I am after all leaping into my final year already. Hoping to graduate by next year. It has been a great ride so far.

Anyway, my latest video is on this farewell party for a colleague at work and also on my brother’s reception dinner. Since I am using the Bunga Rampai track, naturally it has a copyright claim to it but well, it’s not that I am monetizing anything from these videos at the moment anyway.

I really love the mustard baju kurung I was wearing on that day. I loved the ruffles and the shoulder puffs a lot.

Good Day Coffee

While we can find already find Teh Botol at Ninso, another of Indonesia’s pride Good Day coffee is still not easy to come by. We had this coffee during our family trip to Medan and Yogyakarta many years ago. I ordered this coffee online via Shopee as part of my Teacher’s Day and Farewell gift. It is going to be part of the goodie pack that also has a golden spoon with it.

The cappuccino flavour was easy to order. The other flavours are mostly out of stock. I bought a big box of Good Day coffee. Inside the box, there are about 120 sachets. Plenty of leftovers to enjoy myself after I make the gifts.

The coffee is featured briefly in this video. It’s a snippet of Eid and the recent farewell luncheon we had at The Windmill Station at Bukit Beruang. I tried the Wes Anderson trend in the intro of this YT video instead of my usual one.

54 videos

This is the 54th video on my Youtube channel.

Sometimes I’d scroll through my old videos just to see how it was a few years ago especially the kids cause you can just see how they’ve grown in personality and physically. You also get to see yourself and see what has changed. There are also a few Unlisted Videos, mainly my OUM assignment videos. The links are sent to my assessors or friends who helped with the assignment.

I am still working on the craft of so-called faceless Youtube-ing. Will get somewhere, sometime.
