My current KDrama Obsession : Good Daughter, Hana

Good Daughter Hana is currently on show at Astro Ch 393. Truth be told, Han Yoon Chan (Lee Tae-Gon) appears more attractive than …. the other guy. Maybe it’s because I’ve grown ‘old’ thus the choice seems more ‘classic’.

Yoon Chan despite being cold, displays an abundance of warmth and affection when it comes to the woman he loves. His words were mature, his stares were full of amour. I couldn’t help letting out a shrieking “oh my god’ plus aksi guling2 gelak sorang2 although I was watching  a particular romantic scene alone. The type of omg  girls would scream to each other when they watch a tak larat scene in a chick flick.

“Hold my hand
I’ll give you three tickets
You can’t see them, but pretend you got them
When you’re having a hard time, when you’re scared and when you need someone, call me
I won’t ask anything and will do what I can do for you”

These words were uttered by Yoon Chan to Eun- Seong/Hana (Park Han-byeol) when Hana was in a turmoil in deciding whether to reveal or conceal herself as a woman as opposed to being a man. Sadly, Hana perceived this statement as a form of brother-ly love. Haih.. if only she knew that Yoon Chan has already known her for who she really was and how he really feels.

The total episode for this drama is 112. I haven’t even reached episode 50 on Astro. So I watched the finale online and am happy with the ending. Utter happiness. I can now continue watching this drama knowing that the finale is not disappointing. He he.

A Merdeka Weekend at Iqlil Salon

I had the need to fulfill my inner diva last Merdeka Weekend. Apart from browsing online for other facial products I could purchase from SimplySiti – I felt gravity pulled me towards frequenting  Iqlil Salon again. This has to be like my 4th visit this year.

IQLIL SALON
No 55, Jalan TU 49A,
Taman Tasik Utama
Ayer Keroh

The first visit was for a wash & cut, the other 2 for hair thermal spa (treatment) and the recent one for a bit of colour to cover the grey hair. I have yet to apply for membership but the price, even for non-members were I feel reasonable. After all, this place is run by a fellow mate from high school. And this was a Ladies -Only Spa. I wouldn’t sell it as a Muslimah Spa as the meaning could be miscontrued but a Ladies Only Spa seemed more appropriate.

I was impressed that the place was still up and running with well qualified stylists. I was greeted by a lovely lady with beautiful tresses of straight hair. She gave me a casual analysis of my hair which I truly appreciated. Her advice was simple – to not let people ‘nipiskan rambut’ for I will lose the glow and strength of the hair.

I know nothing about hair. So I kind of gave her permission to do what she deems fit and suitable for it. This liberty included the type of hairstyle and the new colour of my hair. This was when things got interesting. Cause you see I have a history of being silently wild and outrageous prior meeting Mr Husband. I was very confused and e.m.o. Like Goth Emo.

The stylist immediately knew I had my hair dyed black before. Dying my hair black was one of the moments when I had enough of being blonde – yah, I bleached my hair prior to that due to post break up depression. She mentioned how Asian hair is rarely pitch black like mine and is usually at a grade of 4 or 5 (I don’t know which or what scale is this). Mine was a Grade 0 and have about 5 inches left before it’s all gone from the head. To put colour on top of a Grade 0 would be difficult unless the chosen colour is strong. Which is why Gina, The Stylist suggested a Red Wine colour. I couldn’t agree more as I was already envisioning myself as Song Ji Hyo in the K-Drama Emergency Man and Woman.

Iqlil Salon hair products are from the Alfaparf range. Said to be 95% organic and water-based.. which means its allowed in prayers. I trust that the owner a.k.a. my colleague would not sell something discriminating or doubtful to the market. Kata orang, harus amanah dan bertanggungjawab.

The session lasted for 3 hours and by the time everything was done – I was mildly starving. This is because the staff at Iqlil were very compassionate and made me a cup of tea with biscuits to dip in during the session. I felt like a princess with all the hair steaming and washing. The Red Wine colour was very subtle and would only shine under white light or the sun. I was advised to not use white towel or wear white clothing as the colour could still wash down for few weeks.

Will I go again? Yes.

The whole thing costs me MYR375. I had 3 things done;

  • Wash & Cut
  • Basic Hair Treatment
  • Colouring and Highlights

I think I would like to try their Shimino Facial next visit.

Online Contact Lense Store : MrLens

“Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.”
Sophia Loren

I bought my contact lenses online the other day from a Malaysian based website. MrLens must be tremendously happy of the effort made by beauty bloggers in recommending the website to potential customers. One such customer is myself having read beauty blogs by our very own Malaysian bloggers. And boy there were lots of them.

The website was clean and user-friendly. I loved that MrLens had a very wide array of options to choose from. It makes experimenting with a new brand seems like an adventure as I scroll through the specs and stuff.

The order was processed in a swift manner and I felt that the delivery charges were acceptable. Although I did not receive a free contact lense case, I still get a small gesture of thought in the form of free gummy bear candy. Auw,, so sweet! And it came in a ziplock bag to protect the contents from being spoilt.

Innovations are also taking place as they offer affiliate programmes, selling glasses online and even promoting body shop items at its site! So there are plenty more exciting things at hand.

Will I restock on my contact lenses from MrLens again? Yes, I will.

Have a bite. Eat at BurgerByte

“When in doubt, ingest carbs.”
― Rachel Cohn,

What if I tell you that I was deeply disappointed with my virgin experience at Burgerbyte?

Sadly true.

BurgerByte had all the best mojo for success – a good recipe, a celebrity endorsement, franchises at dense, youthful areas (meaning at places where people eat burger), friendly owners, good chefs, wonderful restaurant ambiance and such. But somehow it failed for one major reason at the branch I went to. I’ll tell you why.

Burgerbyte1-001

I went to BurgerBytes located at Bandar Saujana Putra. I was so excited to taste this famous eatery that I have repeatedly reminded my sister to go there early and book a table – to which she said, no need as there wouldn’t be as many patrons there as those in Damansara or Bangi.

We were a party of 8 (6 adults and 2 toddlers). This is minus Mom who had to attend her social engagements with her ‘women club’.

My younger sister took our orders and proceeded to place it at the counter. And this was when our unpleasant experience began. The young girl at the cashier was … to politely put it, slow and blur. She knows Coke and Ice lemon Tea.. but she somehow has never heard of the 100 plus drink. My sister, a teacher by the way, was at a boiling point mengadap her ‘innocence’ but managed to refrain herself from giving her one of her ‘teacher’s look’ or slamming her hand on the table muttering ‘astarghfirullah’.

The cashier managed to understood the order when my sister finally pointed out the picture to her. We would empathise if she was an OKU but she was not – she was a bimbo.

But the problem did not stop there.

Burgerbyte2-001

When our orders came, instead of the famous NakËd Burger which we wanted in beef, it came as only a NakËd Beef Patty. The waiter apologized for what seems a wrong order but knowing it wasn’t the chef’s fault and we were terribly hungry, we gave in. We took the meal and tried to enjoy it. Obviously, we didn’t like it that much as we were expecting something else.

I wasn’t keen on taking pictures. I just couldn’t. My first time with BurgerByte was ruined. But hey, its like Auntie Anne pretzels. The ones at Sunway Pyramid tasted better than the ones at Aeon Jusco. I like to believe that the same thing applies to BurgerByte  although its quite sad to think ‘where is quality control in this?’

Hence, driven by that optimism we decided to give it a try at Burgerbytes Malacca, located at MITC.

Burgerbyte-001

It was not disappointing although my sister was frustrated that we did not try the ‘proper NakËd Burger’. We ordered other stuff on the menu including the JUMBO size carrot juice! Well well.. next time then – for NakËd Burger!
