I should start making a list of Malay movies to watch If You Want To Start Watching Malay Movies. Paskal would be one of my recommendations.

Its an RM10 million budget movie used wisely. As viewers, we get to learn a thing or two about our elite military team. It is patriotic and I can see a future where this will be a staple movie programme on National TV every 31st August.

The plot was simple. And almost predictable. But it’s Okay coz just how many Malaysian movies can get you to the edge of your seat? Less than 10 aite.. unless you’re a big fan of MIG productions. Which I am not.

Paskal was nostalgic for me as well as it brought on memories of PKBM (L) in secondary school. I can still remember bits of the Gempur Wira song. The pic below is a page from my HoboMinci. Paskal deserved a mention in it.

To be elite team, the members must be elite as a person too. And can work as a team. I think everyone should walk out of the movie knowing that.

Malaysia Membaca Campaign

Reading just became cool again. Thanks to our education minister, Dr Maszlee malik. Netizens are sharing what they’re reading, only that the choice of books are mostly the same. Within my circle that is. Maybe it is because we borrow books from one another. Ha ha ha.

Almost all my friends has Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist on their favourites list. It would be interesting to see other mind-opening books you know. But yeah, those who love Mr Coelho’s book – ain’t he great?

Because of the hashtag, I have picked up my momentum in reading again. This time using the Google Playbook platform as well. It makes me look less like a nerd when I read on my phone. Friends would think I’m scrolling on Instagram when in fact I have my nose in a digital book like a modern Belle of Beauty and the Beast.

So if you’re an avid reader, a bookworm as your alter ego – do drop me a comment down below regarding good books I should read. It can be fiction, parenting books, skills book , management stuff, psychology things, history even.. or language related. As long as its a title that makes you feel awesome, happy or enlightened when you recommend them to me.

Krabi 2018 : Timber House Ao Nang

Previously, we stayed at Ananta Burin Resort (2014) and Ibis Styles Hotel (2016) for our Krabi getaway. this year we tried Timber House Ao Nang.

Timber House is a 3 star family friendly resort with commendable facilities and staff. It is walking distance to the beach and most importantly, near Halal eateries for Muslim tourists.

Things we loved about the place;

The Room – we booked a family room which has 1 King Size bed and 1 single bed. Each unit has a private terrace complete with chairs and a table that overlooks the pool (in most places). I wished I had brought my HoboMinci for it would be an ideal place to do some journaling. Each room has the basic amenities like the fridge, hot shower, room and pool towels, daily complimentary bottled water and beverages, a kettle, a microwave (bonus!) and basic toiletries although I would recommend you bring your own shower gel.
The pool – kids loved it especially when the management left a floating alligator in the pool for the kids to enjoy swimming. Pool opens from 7AM – 7PM.
The FREE BREAKFAST package – there were online reviews from fellow visitors that did not enjoy the choices. We personally think that it was alright for a 3 star hotel. Although the spread was not fully HALAL, there are safe options like the vegetarian fried noodle, the bread and HALAL butter, the fresh fruits, juices, lovely coffee from the machine. I had my fix of mocha and cappuccino almost every morning.

Walking distance to the many places to eat – the HALAL pancakes, ice cream and hot meals are just around the corner. Take the turn up the hill towards 7 Eleven and voila, its like a Muslim street up there. It’s different from the street near the mosque but the options are just as varied and great.

The resort did say we have access to FREE WIFi but I find the connection to be awful. So I resorted to my very own DIGI Roaming Package. It’s an RM25 package which has a 4GB Internet + 60 mins call for 3 days. Interestingly I could still settle my bills online and receive my TAC number for my transactions in Krabi.

Would I stay here again? Yes. I think we paid for our rooms for less than RM 120 per night. And it was for 3 nights. Of course it would depend on certain variables like the season, the deals available and the number of people joining the trip. Still, it was a nice stay.

Lunch at Kelab Tasik Putrajaya

Dad really wanted to have his meal here.

We arrived there at 1215 noon with the sun blazing hot and the first thing that caught out attention was – it was a big open space area with no air conditioning. Ee was already, “aduhhh. panaslah”. But Dad said walk straight to the indoor area – and we found this small place which could fit probably only 40 – 50 little people inside – but thankfully air-conditioned. Although it does get warm once the carbon dioxide from all the exhaling fills the room.

The occasion was to celebrate my Mom’s birthday and myself. I bought presents for my mom and my sister. From Bodyshop of course. I got Mother a tub of Ginseng Masker + Moringa Bath Gel (travel size) + Scrub. I got my sister, the fresh white musk EDT. As for myself, I bought the Atlas Mountain Rose EDT. Everything costs me just above RM300 and I received an RM45 voucher in return. The gift wrapping was FREE for members. *thumbs up*

I bought last-minute flower bouquets from Turba Rose, which was located at Kota Fesyen Melaka (MITC) in the same row as MK Curtains.

At Kelab Tasik Putrajaya, we managed to squeeze ourselves at the round table. Meals on average were between RM24 – RM35 per plate depending on what you wanted. I had salmon. The rest had a chicken chop, fish and chips, cordon bleu and sirloin steak.

The food was OK but I wouldn’t really go there anymore. The price was befitting of the food. It’s just that the ambience felt weird. Rasa macam sardin posh kena himpit ramai2 gittew. Tahukan Malaysia ni panas, should provide more indoor area. Yes, it’s nice to sip your coffee while looking at the lake but …. not when it is 34 degrees outside.
