Gumash chestnut hair colour – a review

One of the most powerful aspects of marketing a hair colouring product to Malaysians is if you have this statement.

This note is enough to convince me that I could use the product and still perform my ibadat without the concern of halal and haram

Contrary to the regular henna I have used to touch up my grey Storm x-Men hair, I find Gumash has a nice scent to it. It doesn’t smell herbal. The instructions that came in the box were easy to follow although the task to massage it in my Rapunzel hair seemed forever. After that, I have to wait for 30-45 mins for the colour to set before I wash it off.

The kit

When I first mixed the solution, it was a nice chestnut colour but with time (maybe there’s some sort of oxidation) involved, it became a burgundy colour. So, I wasn’t really sure what the outcome of the whole process will be. After about a 45 mins wait, I rinsed the colour off and applied the hair repairing mask to give it a nice shine. I can’t really show you the hair but the outcome came out to be slight Copper-ish. Like those copper stuff you find in the wires at home. On 2nd thought, it may be chestnut after all – the kind of appearance you get before roasting them to eat. It kind of makes more sense as the colour is accentuated on my grey hair.

I bought Gulash at Shopee. It’s like USA’s Amazon for Malaysians. The price is RM47.40 and it comes in various colours. I think for my next hair colouring experience, I’d like to try Dark Brown.

VLOG update on Chinese New Year

Malaysians love the festive season. Cause we have the holidays.. how did you spend yours? 🤗 did some edits on the clips I captured using my new Samsung A32. I need at least 1000 subscribers before I could even try monetizing my content. Consoling myself that Ali himself made 77 videos before he could actually make money from his content. He didn’t even compromise on quality. I don’t want to jump onto the tactic of just churning out videos for the sake of just making them cause it doesn’t really reflect on what I’d like to show on my channel.

ANYWAY

This year both of my Chinese neighbours were very generous in gifting me oranges. Like the whole box! I was grateful and touched by their gestures. One of them was a former colleague at my workplace. He got me cake and coffee for my birthday last year. I had no idea he knew the date. I didn’t even put my birth date on Facebook.

My solar lanterns are not shining brightly this year. Very disappointed. Must be the panels.

I will be taking leave next week for a day to kind of keep up with my OUM assignments. Rasa macam makin banyak benda nak kena baca.

Face sheet beauty mask

I was never a fan of the beauty mask sheet. UNTIL… I saw how much the Jung siblings love using it. That would be 정호석 (J-Hope) and 정지우 (Ji-woo).

I follow Ji-Woo on Youtube and there was one video where she did her night routine skincare regime. She not only applies the mask sheet but also uses the remaining essence on her body which was something I never thought of doing before. Maybe it’s because the sheets I use have a sticky formula that doesn’t feel really nice on the skin. I also learned from her videos the existence of lash serums. Like wow, the beauty trends keep rolling in. And because of her – I bought an eyelash serum too which I use diligently not only on my eyelashes but also on my eyebrows before I go to sleep.

Later on, I found out that J-Hope was also very into skincare. I watched a short clip of Bon Voyage where he brought his masks on these trips and on the recent In The Soop series, he easily slabs a sheet on his face after a day out in the sun. This kind of inspired me to use one as well whenever I have been out working in the garden during the day. Or if after a day working in CAC, fever centre etc. I no longer use these sheets on special occasions only ( which explains why my mask gets expired all the time). I begin to adopt this thinking that the mask is for everyday use to hydrate your skin, to be incorporated into the beauty regime, whenever and however you choose to do so.

As of now, my favourite masks are from Etude House and a specific one from Some By Mi. So far, most sheets from Etude House has a very nice non-sticky formula. I haven’t tried everything as I buy them in small quantities on a monthly basis from a Shopee store called Beautybabes. My recommended one from Some By Mi is the Glutathione mask. This is like my 3rd purchase from the same store. I thought I’d give the Real Vitamin one a try too and see if I like it.

Beautybabes seems to have a lot of options at their online store. I am anxious to try other brands but will consider it once I find great reviews about them. It takes leaps of faith to try something new on the face. Let me know which mask sheet brands you like, ey?

MI BAND 3

I give second chances for relationships or circumstances to work out. Including things. Cause sometimes I feel if a gadget is deemed not working or useless, it could be because as users, we have yet to uncover its full potential. My husband received a Mi Band a few years ago as a winning prize. He wore it for quite a while but at one point he kind of stopped. I did not really enquire why and to be honest, have quite forgotten about the Mi Band existence until a few weeks ago.

My workplace had this fitness competition going on. We are to track our steps per day and see if the accumulated steps would, later on, translate into a winning streak. Previously, I used my phone as a tracker and bring it everywhere I go. Then, I thought, why not get one of those smartwatches that I could wear and go for my walks instead of bringing the phone with me. I started browsing Shopee and ‘liked’ a few items. For example,

Samsung Wearables – the designs are cute, my problem with it is that I’ll be in the Samsung ecosystem which is not integrated with my BookDoc app. Plus, I use a lot of Google in my daily activities.

Hence, I focused more on Google Fit Tech and stumbled upon not only their Wear Os but other watches from Fossil too. Considering the extravagant functions, the price is steep. I could almost buy a new phone with that price tag.

Having browsed through the options, I decided to give myself a trial period before committing to my very own wearables. I nicked my husband’s abandoned, neglected Mi Band. I found out that the straps have come off, so I bought new, feminine straps from China through Shopee. I charged the watch for longer hours as a colleague said that if it was properly charged, the batteries could last for the whole week. Indeed, it was true.

I downloaded the Mi Fit app, connected it to a Google fit app which is later synchronized with BookDoc. That’s a lot of steps – I will find a shortcut to this. Still, it worked. Thus, I am more motivated to engage in activities that could increase my basal metabolic rate. I am still parked further from the building’s main entrance. Calorie deficit meals. More water. More salad on the plate. Coffee is still on the menu.

My husband’s Mi Band has been given a new purpose in life – to keep the wife, ME, fit and healthy. I guess the band is here to stay on my wrist instead of his.

Mi band is now mine

Summing up September

September was turbulent. This is what happened.

Largest mobile outreach vaccination programme

We were vaccinating between 500 to 650 people per day at locations like Sekolah Henry Gurney, Penjara Sungai Udang and MPHTJ. The challenging part was making sure that the total number of people vaccinated tallied with the number of vaccines given. If the total number of people registered on the Mysejahtera system is off – I need to figure out whether we missed out on verifying certain people once they completed their vaccination, the earlier registration did not go through, vaccine vials went missing etc.

My colleague speaking to the Chief Minister

Once I had to stay up late to tally up the numbers because the Mysejahtera system was offline for a few hours during the vaccination programme. We couldn’t wait as the prison had protocols to abide to. So we did manual registration and I had to complete the back logged data afterwards. It was a pain going through the 400 plus consent papers and see whose names are not registered and verified in the system. This is important because Malaysia provides digital certificates in the Mysejahtera app. It would be an injustice to the prisoners, should they be released one day, to discover that their names are not in the system. Although everyone has a physical card to keep, it’s always nice to have a digital one with you at all times since everyone has a smart phone nowadays.

Semester Six

I am now in Semester 6. How time flies. I wished I started sooner. Haha. I guess starting anything before 40 is a great idea. Even if they are thoughts for a career change. I am taking 3 subjects instead of 4. Gotta be realistic sistaaa..

Mini celebration for Doctors Day

I was really excited for this one. We celebrated early. It started with just plans for lunch and then the idea expanded into including games, gift exchange and awards. Surprisingly, I bagged 2 awards – one is the doctor with the Neatest Handwriting and the other one is the Most Soft Spoken. LOLS. I need to digest the latter thought and start viewing myself from other peoples perspective. I am pretty sure my personality is very different in the car whilst driving. I did not get to attend the party as I was out doing my mobile vaccination programme but I managed to keep up with the updates through Whatsapp. It was fun for me from a far. Being present takes too much energy.

My personal contribution to the party were sandwiches and the coffee machine. I had no idea people would love the Nescafe Gold Blend Barista machine. I had thought that they would prefer the capsule ones. Anyway, some friends who wanted to get it for themselves discovered that the product has been discontinued. Wow. I am that lucky few left with the machine. After all, it has been in our possession for a few years already. Husband purchased it from Shopee before the capsules were popular.

Moon chamber – Preloved BookStore on Shopee

Instead of giving away the books – which people would appreciate less, I decided to sell them online through the Shopee platform. I feel it is the easiest selling platform for beginners. of course, Shopee will take a percentage of your total sales for their service fees but it is still one of the easiest way to sell your stuff.

I set up my shop. I listed my items. I described my products and put in the weight of the items (roughly) so that Shopee could calculate the shipping price. I also get to choose the couriers available near my home. My choice is Citylink, J&T and Ninja van. If someone buys my books, I just have to print my airway bill (AWB), pack the things in my cute plastic bag and drop it off at their respective points. My favourite is the Mail Box place at Kip Mall. No need for extra weighing and all. Just drop it off. I had no idea it was that simple. So far, last month alone I made RM19. That is good enough than having to see the books rot on the shelves. At least I get to buy new books after that!

October is currently off to a good start. I wonder what interesting things it will bring.
