MISSHA Perfect cover BB Cream

MISSHA.

Another cosmetic brand originating from South Korea. I have been using its foundation and lip tint ever since I discovered it during my holiday to Seoul in 2013. I’m easily drawn to something new and strange because in Malaysia I’ve only heard of Etude House and Skin Food. I had no idea this brand was.. BIG. Perhaps its because the price tag had the ability to create a big hole in the purse if converted to local currency.Well.. maybe. I don’t know. SK II seems to be doing just fine.

The foundation I used has an SPF42 and for my Malay skin I used NO 23 (Natural Beige).  I think this is the darkest tone available which is considered still ‘light’ for my skin tone. Correct me if I’m wrong – I am not a beauty blogger who does her research. In short, if you’re Ning Baizura or Yunalis Zarai, this product may not be suitable for you. But if you’re Lisa Surihani or Jihan Muse it’s a keeper. If you’re Diana Danielle or Emma Maembong, then do choose a lighter tone. HIhi. kitak faham sik ya..

I bought it online through the trusted website Lazada. Com. It was priced at MYR 52 for a tube of 50mls which usually lasts me for a year. The price was with shipping cost included and it arrived in the mail within 3 days. Hurray.

Recently, I came to discover of a product under the MISSHA roof which was rumoured to be able to challenge SKII’s Miracle Essence. It has been around for some time but I’ve only got to know about it for the past 6 months. It is called TIME REVOLUTION – The First Treatment Essence. It has a somewhat similar and exclusive packaging like SKII but I was disappointed that the local MISSHA webstore did not provide an update regarding this product, hence I have to seek for more up-to-date information from its cousins website in Singapore.

I read reviews regarding its magic. This article in particular and also this one by Morgan stands out of course and I was eager to try.

Now all I have to do is wait for another package to arrive straight from KOREA!! AGAIN!!

Book Review : Kapal Angkasa Terhempas di Subang Jaya by Birsilah Bakar

I have stopped reading Malay novels for a few years because the ones I stumbled into shared pretty much the same, non-interesting theme.

  • women get raped, forgives their rapist and marries them
  • women get physically abused by a man and needs another Romeo to save her out of the mess
  • women can’t solve their own problems and had to wait for someone to die before conflicts resolve

That was until I came across this book.

I have to admit, I knew this writer from secondary school and I was honestly very surprised to know that she published her book in Bahasa Malaysia. Birsilah or BC as we know her then, was always someone I looked up to secretly for her strong grasp in the English language. She writes and speak (although very little) like poetry – people in the 16th century would have mistaken her as Shakespeare himself. A woman Shakespeare!

And boy am I glad to have read this book. Its an uh-may-zing book. I define a Malay novel as amazing when I could imagine it come alive in many colours. Meaning, although the main character is a Nabila, if Japan was to make a movie out of her book, this Nabila can be a Nanako or even a Shilpa in India. Even better, a Katniss in Hollywood.

It’s been a while since I allowed pure fantasy to envelope itself around me. Its like time travelling to the time of The Never Ending Story or Fantaghiro & The Cave of the Golden Roses – that sort of fantasy. As opposed to the more popular ones these days of sorcery, vampire and werewolves. Most importantly, I love how she portrays the women in the story as strong and intelligent – in a realistic way. Where like real people, the characters have their positive traits and also flaws which need fixing. Being Human, that’s what it is. Evil people did not die instantly from a brain tumour or heart attack (thank god!) but only after a fair and gruesome fight.

Cynical, sceptical yet cute and humorous dialogues/monologues were plenty. In fact, it made me wonder as well of how ‘cacing tanah mengawan’. LOL. Plot twists and ‘secrets’ were dished out bit by bit in every chapter … building up this momentum of making me want to keep turning the pages to find out more about what is going on. Smart writing technique, kan??

Glitches? There were a few references which sounded familiar to being in Malacca (asam pedas, selat melaka) which made me doubt if it was Subang Jaya at all. Boleh je kan makan asam pedas in Subang.. he he. Or did I miss something, somewhere regarding where this crash actually took place? Yup, maybe. And secondly if I switch off my medical logic, perhaps I wouldn’t have to think too much about the length of divorce and … the baby bump. Ha ha ha.

Overall, it is still an awesome book. I would rate it as 4 stars out of 5. I really hope that more people could read it and if ever there was a movie production of it, I am looking forward to see who plays the role of Nabila’s handsome brother with very beautiful eyes. *drool*

SimplySiti Dermagic Beauty Moisturiser

I must say I am in love with this product. I rarely get to use my skincare products till its empty especially moisturizers because I never believed in them in the first place. Until I met SimplySiti’s Dermagic Beauty Moisturiser. It is said to be a star product hence the need to find out the truth is there.

dermagic

I am attracted to SimplySiti’s product as a whole because it is Made In Korea. The land of BB Cream. Where the women no matter how old, have flawless porcelain skin. It’s like bumping into a movie star every second of the day when you’re walking on the streets of South Korea. Ha ha –

I started using this moisturiser this year, out of curiosity… but mostly because I was influenced by its beautiful packaging. So purple and exclusive. The price was a bit on the high end especially when you know its produced by a local songbird star but after considering its original place of manufacture (i.e. KOREA), I trust the price to be deemed acceptable. Translating into affordable.

I loved the scent. The texture. And soon enough I have a  daily ‘before bed skin cleansing ritual’ which includes smothering this cream onto my face. The fragrance of the cream was all the aromatherapy I needed for a good nights sleep.

And just last 2 weeks I got myself a new one. Like wow – a  repeat purchase!! I mean who wouldn’t when you feel like a million dollars the next morning.

The part when Han Yoon Chan declares to Jang Hana

Hana asked Yoon Chan,

” You still worry about me knowing that I love him? “

and he said..

” I told you to lean on me when you’re scared or things got tough. Even if you love someone else, my feelings won’t change. I’ll always protect you.

I’ve known you and him for a while now. I wish I was your love. But I acknowledge that I’m not the one who makes your heart beat faster.

You won’t give up on love or work. I know you won’t. You’ll keep going forward. You’ll be in pain and you might feel lost. When things get tough, don’t forget that I’m always here for you. You’ll be in pain because of your love for him. You’ll realize one day love that hurts can never last. Come to me when you realize that. I’ll be waiting.

There are many kinds of love. My way of loving you is to be there for you.. no matter what”

*then the chorus of this song explodes in the background*
